History
The 8th Company exemplified the Legion on the deadly battlefields of Murder. There amongst their cousins, the XVIth Legion, the 8th Company earned many honors but also suffered heavy casualties. The survivors gained the nickname of Blood Furies by the Sons of Horus.
Heavily undermanned most of the company returned to Baal as a defence and patrol force while they were reinforced with new recruits.
The 8th Company returned to the Great Crusade with fresh marines. Their first call was to rejoin the IXth Legion to exterminate what remained of the Nephilim in the Signus System.
Like the rest of the IXth Legion, the 8th company was left changed following the Battle of Signus Prime. The stark treachery and revelation of the existence of daemons was almost too much bare. Forced to face the dark rage within each legionaire only compounded the confusion and shock.
Praetor Warren Rast turned his sorrow toward anger, vengence, and fury. While the Legion was cleansing the Signus System, Praetor Rast petitioned Sangiunius to take the fight to the traitors, particularly the Word Bearers.
Sangiunius declined the petition twice before finally relenting. It was clear that his son would not find peace.
