Battle Summary
The attack on the traitors in orbit around Yuglenia was a mixed success for the liberation fleet. While it is true the world-killer Eschaton was reduced to a burnt-out hulk, a significant fraction of the other vessels, including the Word Bearer frigate Dusan Jari, and grand cruiser Widow of Colchis, escaped the ambush and retreated to Fuschal itself.
This, of course, greatly complicated the effort to establish a beachhead on the planet - low orbit around Fuschal was already grossly congested with mass haulers, cargo lifters, and support vessels of all sizes, from Arvus lighters to Universe-class transporters.
With civilian panic added to the furious void battle, dispatching troop carriers and drop pods to the surface became a nightmarish game of dodging other ships, evading heavy fire from traitor ships, orbital defenses, and collisions with debris, compounded with ground-to-air fire, interceptors, and the difficulty of finding anywhere on Fuschal to land.
FUSCHAL TERRAIN
With the exception of some fiercely volcanic microcontinents, the vast majority of population and industry on the waterworld was concentrated onto huge factory ships and a scattering of atolls. Away from the spaceport and docklands around the Cloister Archipelago, buildings and machinery tended to be packed as tightly as possible - most roads too narrow for any vehicles larger than walkers.
SPECIAL RULES FOR PHASE THREE: Falling Debris
With so many vehicles shot out of the sky - some by friendly fire - the first battles on the surface also had to contend with a hail of shattered drop-pods, fragments of starships, and misdirected bombardment. At the start of each turn, roll off. The winner places d3 large blast templates anywhere on the table, which then scatter 3d6 inches and inflict S7 AP3 hits on whatever unit is struck.
