Battle Summary
Sergeant Serpicus marched in front of his unit to the deployment area 12 klicks north of Diabolisgaard. According to the mission briefing the civil unrest in the hive city was rising and with it the support of the Warmaster. The objective was to take an important underground station currently held by the Iron Hands, by deceit if possible by force if necessary.
Serpicus' men and the other two tactical had already closed in under the cover of darkness and a number of cryptic vox transmissions using White Scars codes when bolter fire ahead signaled that the Emperors lapdogs would not depart voluntarily. Serpicus deployed his men in the cover of some ruins, his brother sergeant - according to the pulse code transmitted by the vox - did likewise. The rapier laser destroyers stayed behind the bulk of the Land Raider. Serpicus could not understand why Praetor Antigones would team up with the half demons from the Word Bearers. They usually drew a lot of fire though. According to vox reports the Iron Hands tried to stop the Land Raider with an antiquated Proteus and a more modern Sicaran but could not get good firing solutions. Furthermore Squad Gamma was under heavy fire from artillery. The sergeant ordered his men to open fire on some nearby attack bikes and gave target coordinates for the opposing units visible to him. Seconds later the Gorgon terminator unit on the other side of the other side of the train station was obliterated by a Medusa shell. A single survivor staggered slowly out of sight. A unit carrying breacher shields entered the perimeter shortly before the trusted laser destroyer arrays stopped the outclassed Land Raider in its tracks. Serpicus heard the rumble of Antigones on his bike in the close vicinity gunning for the Immortals. Immediately Serpicus left the cover to have his marines join in and assist the Praetor. He could reach the Iron Hands just as Antigones cut down several foes with his marvelous blade. The Immortals were true to their name and withstood a lot of punishment. Still they were outmatched and fled after Serpicus pulled the shield away from their leader and disemboweled the sergeant with his power dagger. Looking up he saw the Praetor cutting down the retreating loyalist while shouting "For the Emperor". The terrifying Gal Vorbak stormed out of their transport to take the fight to more Gorgon Terminators while squad Gamma and Epsilon came closer to evade the fire from heavier infantry weapons. Leaving cover the two medusas advanced to end this threat as Iron Hands lost unit after unit from combined fire and attacks. Serpicus received the order to assist the Gal Vorbak but was surprised to arrive with his men to be greated not by the expected monsters but 4 regular marines in power armour of unusual design that was covered in runes. He warily greeted their leader but the martyr only glanced up casually before carrying a terminator helmet to the Land Raider and ramming it on one of the spikes. The raid was won and Serpicus pondered about some inspiring words to give to his men as we wandered back through the rubble.
