Battle Summary
Redeployed to the outscirts of Hivernigraad the Iron Tenth had to stop the Death Guard from taking control of two promethium wells. The cursed traitors had advanced with several units of infantry backed by a Terminators in a Land Raider Phoebos. Eisen felt certain he could acomplish the mission parameters given by his superiors as he had an increased number of battle brothers to command, yet somehow the opponent seemed to increase in size as well.
Eisen chose a weighed deployment with fast troops on the left. The sicaran venetor was backed up by the Land Raider Proteus and the two vehicles shielded the two units of Gorgon terminators from a Death Guard unit of Volkite Culverins. The tacticals would advance behind the ruin in their Rhino and secure the nearer mission objective. The tacital support with volkites deployed in the forest with the heavy bolters to their left. First the Iron Tenth had to weather the shooting storm of Death Guard. The Contemptor Cortus did not stop the Sicaran and the Land Raider did not bring both weapons to bear. The Volkites redeployed to the center to find target and the Iron Tenth remained unscathed. The Iron tenth retaliated by firing their thud guns at the tacticals visible but were very inaccurate and took only some of their numbers and the Iron attack bikes on the far right - unable to draw a line of sight to the Land Raider - killed two more. The loyalist Land Raider damaged the Contemptor but kept the Immortals in their hold. Last the Sicaran took a gamble and advanced on the far left flank close to some Grave Wardens to be able to fire at the cursed Land Raider but the precise shots were foiled by some rubble. Getting reinforcements the Death Guard advanced even more and reached the sicaran using all their speed with Grave Wardens and the Contemptor after one of the Gorgon units were reduced by enemy fire. The sicaran went up in flames.
