Population

Iaethea’s only population is on military bases with several imperial Army regiments and Eglurnian Auxiliaries and support staff located here. Food and supplies are obtained from other planets within the Eglurn System.

The planet was never inhabited before The great schism or crusade and has only been utilized as a military staging area late in the great crusade and now into the Horus Heresy. The main bases of the Imperial fists in the system can be located here and a majority of their ships. This planets population is completely military personnel and personnel committed to the support of said military units.

Barracks, fortresses, missile silos and defense batteries pollute the surface of this world. In times of peace this could be turned into a world of industry, but in this dark time of betrayal and constant war, this world will not be changing its tune any time soon.

History

Pre-Compliance

With no mineral or bio assets on the planet and being far to far away from Eglurns nurturing sun for life to form naturally, Iathea had no permanent residents. Often there was mining expeditions but nothing of real value was discovered on the planet and its cold dead, near zero atmosphere environment meant no one stayed long.

Compliance

During compliance the Imperial Fist and then followed by some other legions and army units found the planet as a suitable base to mount missions of compliance within the system and sub sector.

The lifeless world was terraformed and life was breathed into the dead world with mysterious terraforming machines from an age long forgotten. The world was transformed in mere months to a massive staging area. Many legions won their compliance victories having staged their crusades from this very world.

Post Compliance

After compliance many legions kept troops based here with the ability to spread out to other systems and stage mass invasions within the sub sector and to gain resources, support and Imperial army recruits from Eglurn and the various mining operations from other planets within the system. As stated The Imperial Fists maintain their garrison HQ on this planet, but now that war has come to the system many loyalist Legions are finding their way here. Using the massive staging area as a launching point to plunge head first into the inferno of war that the Eglurn system has become.

It is for this reason that this Planet is also a highly desired target by the traitors and their allies, although its taking will not be a simple feat by any means. Perhaps surpassing (defiantly when more than one Legion is gathered here) Eglurn in defense and military power, taking this world will have to be weighed as though the enemy were taking the capital world, would it even be worth doing with casualties surely to be extremely high?

Battle Types

Due to the large base for many loyal legions all battles on this planet must be with armies over 2250 points and use maelstrom missions using 30k cards to represent controlling key sections.
