Although not as lush as its smaller namesake, Kenuc Alpha is a prosperous world with a rich ecosystem as well as vast mineral resources, a near perfect balance of rich industry and comfortable environment. It was for this reason that the planet was chosen to be the System capital above the other candidates who may have a more appealing climate or more abundant natural resources.

Population

Limited to its three primary fortified hive bases, the population was rapidly expanding through an intensive colonisation program invoked shortly after the System compliance. This was further augmented by the fact that the Imperial Fists Legion have taken a significant interest in the system and have commenced a series of heavy fortifications in order to use the area as a staging point for their activities further Rimward. With the onset of the Heresy the colony ships are still arriving for the time being, often being dispatched long before the civil war erupted.

History

Shortly after the system Compliance the VII began construction of their iconic fortresses to maintain Imperial control and loyalty amongst the local population, which was sparse at the time, further augmenting the already fortified habitats of the Knight Lords of Lexidare. However rather than moving on, the Fists established a potent garrison force led by a contingent of Templars. Rather than being a simple Imperial colony world the Legion has claimed this world as a staging point for their activities, a bastion for their forces and a gathering place for their dead. As the Great Crusade spread further and further outwards, the task of gathering and entombing their dead became ever more difficult and a series of Templar outposts were established, their task to gather the bodies of their fallen brothers and prepare them for transport them to the Phalanx or other designated place of burial.

Unlike Kenuc Beta, the native inhabitants of Kenuc were a reasonably stable society being ruled and protected by the Knight House Lexidare. The Knights of Lexidare are a staunch honorable caste and once the treaty was entered into they are honour bound to maintain and assist, no matter the direction it takes them.

House K'Chun is one of the other noble house on Kenuc Alpha. The K'Chun family has been a leader in industry and had massed resources to control a size portion of Kenuc Alpha. While before compliance House K'Chun was not for a strong militia, after wards it seem they had a large militia force than had previously. It is not confirmed if House K'Chun has any knights.

As the tides of war engulfed the Imperium, the Templar outpost remained in place and were resolute in their purpose, to gather the fallen of the VII and protect their dominion.

Echos of Destruction: Ghost of Kenuc

The desperate pleas from the survivors of the hive of Kenuc Alpha brought a swift response from the Sons of Horus, the Alpha Legion, the taghmata of Ryza, the Blood Angels and the Imperial Fists.

The Blood Angels made a valorous assault into the outskirts of a ruined hab-block but found a bloodthirsty band of Sons of Horus Reavers already scouring the area for whomever had been broadcasting distress signals locally. The Blood Angels tried valiantly to rescue the fleeing Remembrancer and local Noble that had been uncovered, but were unable to secure them from the Warmaster’s forces. But as he was cut down, the Remembrancer was able to pass along a secret to the sons of Sanguinius, that the noble family he had been documenting had been financing a valuable warp-technology before the war in Kenuc had broke out.

Meanwhile in the industrial waste outside the city the forces from Ryza were zeroing in on the location a missing Magos Biologis. They found him crawling from a waste drain, but also evidence of a sweep being performed by a heavily armed Alpha Legion Kill Team. As combat broke out the Mechanicum was originally able to retrieve the Magos, and even kill the Imperial Cartographer that had given the Alpha Legion coordinates, but as Terminators began to pour in the fighting got more and more intense, and they eventually lost control of the Magos. The Skitarii eventually killed him instead of letting him fall into enemy hands, but not before he transmitted part of the conversation he was having with the Alpha Legion over short range vox. The firefight came to a suspiciously quick end.

The Blood Angels next followed the dead Remembrancer’s directions to the Kenuc Nobility’s mountain top research facility. But their scarlet armor was spotted by Sons of Horus, after the same prize. An assault squad was the first to reach the unmanned bunker of the facility, where they were able to find an experimental field disruptor, original designed by the Mechanicum allies of the Word Bearers Legion. The Blood Angels tried to use the device to power down the atomantic shielding of the Sons of Horus Dreadnoughts closing in on their location, but they had to eventually destroy the archeotech to keep it from falling into the foe’s hands as the withdrew from the facility, escaping the crushing assault launched by the XVIth Legion.

The Ryzan Mechanicum was found fortifying an abandoned lab inside the ruins of the hive. An Imperial Fist Urban Breacher Force exploring the sector tried to establish communications with their allies, but received no responses. Ever wary of betrayal they immediately began to exchange warning fire and demand official codes to be transmitted. Instead they received fire from Castellax Battle Automata, the Taghmata apparently turning against the loyalists. Breachers looking to end the situation as quickly as possible began to plant charges on the facility instead of attempting to enter it. After a spectacular explosion, an squad of Thallax was found to have survived the collapse, thanks to the technology they had stolen from within, a functioning Void Shield Harness. The Fists converged on them, eventually ripping the harness from its wearer, and extricated the field under gun fire, escaping with the valuable relic.

As the Blood Angels retreated to their extraction point they were met by a Delegatus of the Alpha Legion and his Lernaean bodyguard. Weather this meeting was by happenstance or by perfidious planning was unknown. The Blood Angels through themselves into desperate combat, knowing that breaking through was their only chance, but the Alpha Legion were able to encircle them with Terminator squads, blocking their escape. They were eventually force to flee, the survivors escaping into the hive, adding to its unfortunate survivors, their fates still unknown.
