History

The 17th Company has been hit hard by the early battles of the Horus Heresy. Having lost its Lord Commander and 1st Captain there had been minor battles between captains to take control of the company. With Fulgrim and Lord Commander Eidolon focused on the heresy the Company have been left to their own devises.

One captain has been able to unit most of the units of the 17th Company and enters battle to not only win over the approval of his troops but also to gain attention of his idol Lord Commander Eidolon of the 1st Company. With Eidolon’s approval the self appointed Lord Commander Gabriel Engle believes that will lead to Primarch Fulgrim’s approving his leadership and to take his part within his inner circle.

Gabriel uses the same weapons as Eidolon wielding a master crafted thunder-hammer and archaeotech pistol. Trying to be an exemplar of the Legion, he strives for the perfection sought by all the sons of Fulgrim. Gabriel enters battle with something to prove and uses all means necessary in order to defeat those who stand in his way. It does not matter if they are follow the Emperor or the Warmaster, Horus if they are holding him back from his believed right they are his foes.

Breaking of Centrumeh Gate

The 17th Company of the Emperors Children had seen its fair share of losses during the early battles of the Horus Heresy. Having lost most of their senior leadership the captains who survived had seen a power struggle to take the mantel of leading the company moving forward.

One captain Gabriel Engle had been able to secure the support of most the company and has his sights set on being officially named Lord Commander of the 17th Company. In order to secure support of those within and company and senior leadership of the 3rd legion was keen to prove his leadership in battle.

After a couple of skirmishes with in the Elgurn System with Imperial Fist companies Gabriel lead most the company on a mission to the Westarnes the sector capital of the Centrumeh Sub-Sector. With unease within the system the Sudenn Conclave(a former leading house within the sector) hired the services of Engle and his company as well as a company of the Sons of Horus to destroy infrastructure to aid their bid to declare independence from the Imperiam.

Unknown to the Sudenn Conclave Engle also has orders from Lord Commander Eidilon to destroy the main sources of power on the planet allowing traitor legions to attack who still loyal to the Emperor.

While battling the Salamanders a leviathan dreadnaught used its siege drill to destroy a power generator. The ensure explosion damaged itself and wiped out half the section of the city. Later on while engaged with some Ultramarines and Imperial Fists a 2nd Leviathan arrived behind enemy lines and almost destroyed the main power generator on the capital with its melta lances. In an act to save millions of lives a nearby unit of Imperial Fist Breachers charged the dreadnaught to ensure it could not finish its job. While this Breachers died trying to save millions the fire from some nearby Land Raider Protous was able to blow up the generator taking out a large section of the Imperial Fist forces within the capital.

With the main 2 power generators on the planet leaving those running the planet having to decide between military uses or their citizens lives. They chose their citizens as expected but this was the hope along of those planning the attack.

With payment from the Sudenn Conclave and the approval of orders from the Emperors Children the now official Lord Commander Gabriel Engle set off to return to the Eglurn System to secure the supplies needed from within this system for the battles to come.

Northern Front - Battle of Eglurn System

The Eglurn System is on the outer reaches of the Cambrius Sub-Sector. Like most the systems within the sub sector they have attempted to remain neutral in the conflict to maxmimise profits, something which neither side appreciates. The 17th Company were on Maestea getting supplies for their involvement within the Centrumeh Gate were engaged by the Imperial Fists. The ensuring battle was the start of open war within Eglurn system. In leaving the system they also attacked a base on Iaethea to raid the Imperial Fist for even more supplies. After being discovered and planning to leave the system taking this risk for a calculated decision worth taking.

After their involvement in the Breaking of Centrumeh Gate the company returned to their bade not far from Elgurn to take an active part in open war.
