History
On the 203rd year of the Great Crusade, shortly after the Emperor's Children's victory against the Laer, Lord Commander Eidolon departed the 28th Expeditionary Fleet with the elite 1st Company of the Emperor's Children to take part in the reinforcement of the IXth Legion, the Blood Angels, upon the Death World of Urisarach, which was officially codified in Imperial records as One-Forty-Twenty, the twentieth world to be brought into Imperial Compliance by the 140th Expeditionary Fleet. This world was soon to become known as Murder.
The exploits of the 10th and Captain Saul Tarvitz during the cleansing of Murder and in battling the Megarachnids is well documented and by the sixth month of the campaign it seemed the Megarachnids would soon face extinction when the fleet deployed by the Interex arrived in-system to determine who had assaulted the Megarachnids' reservation world. Finding contact with the highly-advanced humans of the Interex to be a more pressing issue that needed to be dealt with, the Warmaster ended the campaign against the xenos of Murder.
However whilst the majority of the Emperor’s Children were withdrawn for the larger campaign against the Interex a holding force comprising cohorts from within the 10th were tasked with the guarding of this system and monitoring Murder for any resurgence of the Megarachnids or visiting Interex ships. During the following decades infrequent dispatches were received from the Emperor’s Children expedition fleets. Towards the commencement of the Istvaan III campaign some of these arriving ships contained apothecaries who “enhanced” a number of the warriors within the Murder Garrison. It was during these visits that the loyalty of the troops at the Garrison were tested. Soon these visits halted altogether as the Garrison’s allegiance to their Captain was unshakable.
Following the eradication of much of the 10th during the Istvaan campaign the Warmaster sent an eradication force fo Death Guard to wipe out the Garrison. However, word of the atrocities committed had already reached the ears of the Murder Garrison and they were ready. The handful of ships sent to deal with the Garrison emerged from the warp portal hanging above Murder’s Tranquility's equator. They soon dropped from their ships and the Murder Garrison of the Third Legion was ready for them. Every Legionary had studied and memorized the surface of the planet, and as the Death Guard came, the Emperor's Children knew exactly where to lure them in, where to run, and where to prepare kill zones. The Death Guard soon began to lose so many troops they were forced to direct their ships weapons onto the planet, which gave the astrofighters of the Garrison deployed in orbit a chance to get close and destroy these vessels.
