History

A primarch is a warrior. A demigod amongst post humans. As above a mortal man as a cat is to a mouse. No one will debate this. But primarchs can be so much more. Teachers. Scholars. Poets. Mythic heroes. But to the 77th great company of the Death Guard legion their primarch is a father. Mortarion embodied the way of their homeworld Barbarus. It is better to die achieving your goals then to ever flee. Mortarion drilled this lesson into his son's from their birth, it seemed, on Barbarus. Tales of Mortarion almost dying to slay the last great warlord of their planet were legend amongst their people. Even more of a legend was he, the one who achieved that goal that came so close to felling Lord Mortarion, the Emperor of Mankind.

So when the 77th Great company had heard that the so-called Emperor had abandoned his warriors on the vast frontiers of the Great Crusade to return home to Terra they realized that he was no hero. A man who would rather rule from a golden throne than the front line of a war un-won was not fit to rule over so vast an empire. Heeding the teachings of their true father, the Death Lord Mortarion, and the actions of the Warmaster Horus, the Death Guard's dreaded 77th great company never strayed from the side of the men who would rather fight amongst them on frontiers unknown, than rule lover them from gilded thrones they would never see. Long live the Lord of Death. Long live the Warmaster. Death to the coward-emperor. Count the seven!
A 7 Blessings legionnaire makes landfall
