History

The Truth's Beginning

The Eleventh Legion was once a mighty force of the Emperor's will. Fighting alongside their primarch, crusading to build the Imperium in the Emperor's vision. Forty three years before the events of Istavaan V a calamity forced an immediate Damnatio Memoriae of all mention of the mighty Eleventh Legion's existence. Their Primarch disappeared, and the Astartes were wiped of their memories through sorceries of the warp and indoctrinated into the thirteenth legion. They were given a geneseed cleanser by their abnormally large number of apothecaries who were told was to help with the rampent mutation the developed in their sole batch of geneseed. They had been forced to forget who they were and were told to never question their brothers the Ultramarines. For nearly 5 decades the remnants of the Eleventh fought with purity of purpose and clear conscious. They soon no longer questioned who they were, they had no doubts what their purpose was. They were warriors of the 19th chapter of the Ultramarines Legion, the most dedicated to the Thirteenth Legion and ever eager to prove their skill.

When the Word Bearers began to attack their brothers the Ultramarines. The Nineteenth were the fastest to adapt and took the fewest casualties from the initial assault. This was due in part to the quick thinking of one of the Officers Thadeous Strike. Who quickly organized the chapter into a counter assault force using fast sweeping attacks with several squads of Outriders. The other side of that, several among the Seekers would say, was the natural instinct of the Father's teachings. A fraction of the seals layered over the remaining Eleventh Astartes was released. Allowing the truth of their true natures to escape. As the conflict continued on the Primarch of the Thirteenth Legion contacted Thadeous Strike directly. It was during this interaction between Demi-god and Astartes that the truth of the 19th chapter was revealed.

The primarch told Thadeous Strike that he was once the Chapter Master of the Eleventh Legion who once served his brother dutifully. He said that while he can't tell him everything of the Eleventh Primarch or even of the truth of the Eleventh Legions history. He told him that he would give the once chapter master the chance to collect on the debt he owed the Eleventh Primarch. Roboute Guilliman would unofficially grant the Eleventh Legion to depart from the service of the Ultramarines as Renegades. To go in search of their father and possibly bring the only hope for peace among the legions. Thadeous Strike could also decide to remain with the Ultramarines, Fight against the traitors alongside their brothers and forsaking their past and their father.

For Thadeous Strike the answer was simple. He would claim the debt owed and take his brothers, his true brothers, in search of their father. In the hope that he would have the power to end the civil war. With a nod of approval from the Primarch he said that they might find their first clue in the Golloch Cluster. He also gave Thadeous a final warning that if his legion is ever unfortunate to come across the Eleventh Legion. He would have no choice to declare them Traitor and eradicate them.

Secrets Unveiled

After arriving at Patersworld still bearing the 19th's heraldry. They collected needed supplies with little conflict. Using the lack of confrontation as a chance to restructure his renegade chapter, Thadeous Strike summoned those he trusted most for counsel. First thing discussed was how the counsel of officers would proceed as Thadeous did not wish to hold any secrets nor command their silence. He shared with them the true purpose of their departure from Calath and the consequences if they continue with Thadeous on his quest for the 11th Primarch. While each of the officers where shocked silent, each one declared they would follow their Lord Commander. With the counsel unanimous they declared themselves the Seekers of the Lost Primarch, vowing that each and every breath they take would be in the effort to find their Father and the history of their Legion. They also vowed to never utter a lie or harbor a secret from their brothers thus creating the Counsel of Keepers of Truth.

The once the Counsel finished declaring their vows of truth and brotherhood to each other. They began to remove the heraldry of the Ultramarines and having declared themselves renegade. Painted their armor black never again wishing to be recognized as blindly loyal dogs of the Emperor. As each of those among the counsel felt betrayed by the Emperor for having their memories and honors stripped from them. For them to have been lied too for nearly five decades none among the counsel felt loyal to the Imperium any longer. As he watched the officers in the counsel strip the blue from their armor Thadeous could not help but feel troubled as he thought back to the decades of battle he fought with the Ultramarines of other chapters. How he once called the comrades and even brothers, his chapter had always been excluded due to their abnormally problematic condition of their gene-seed. Yet his still felt the pride of fighting with those once thought of as brother. He still felt the anger of being lied to to such a degree that he did not even see that he had cut his hand and had accidentally spread the blood across the left side of his still blue helmet. When he stared at his helmet halved in blue and red he found himself oddly pleased. He ordered everyone to duplicate this on all their helmets. Stating that to discard their past would be a betrayal to the very thing they wish to rediscover. To completely forget their service in the Ultramarines would be no different then what was done to them, but they could not simply ignore the blood they spilled for an empire that did not trust them with the truth. He declared that the past will define them, that it will lead them through the future and the blue and red would be crowned upon all those that believed this.

At the conclusion of the meeting with his counsel Lord Commander Thadeous Strike began the restructuring of his forces. Distracted by his memory of his announcement he made to the forces under his command he had withdrawn to his quarters. Having first been surprised at the loyalty of the entire chapter, as not a single marine chose to leave once Thadeous revealed to them the truth of their origin. Clad in his black armor holding his blue and red helmet the Lord Commander was held in awe as one thousand Astartes roared their Lord Commander's name. The captains of the ships of the fleet broadcasted their allegiance, declaring Thadeous as the Blade of Truth. He had never realized how highly those he lead though of him. He was fully expecting many of the captains and a few companies of Astartes to leave. He even accepted this and decided he would not begrudge any that chose to return to the imperium. As he sat in at his desk he began to realize how dangerous his first step would be and how disastrous the consequences would be for not only him but the entire Chapter.

First Conflict

Having left Patersworld for the planet of Gual in hopes that the Techno-Archivists would have any information that would be of use to the Seekers. Thadeous was surprised to discover that the planet had defected to the Warmaster's faction. Hoping he could strike a bargain he contacted the commander of the Star Port. Declaring that his forces have gone renegade and would be willing to trade their service for a price. Cautious of imperial trickery the Star Port commander only allowed Thadeous to approach with a single small corvette. Also not willing to trust those under the Warmasters command thadeous had a company of Astartes accompany him aboard the ship. Though they would not leave the ship unless ordered they would be close to lend the Lord Commander aid in the case negotiations failed. What neither of the Commanders had anticipated was the forces of the Imperium had already launched an elite strike force to soften the defenses of the Star Port.

During the negotiations Thadeous had promised to aid the relatively stretched forces of the Word Bearers in defending the Star Port in return for standard supplies as well as access to the planets Historical Archives. The Star Port commander saw no issues with this agreement, completely ignoring the planet inhabitants open disdain, but had stated he was interested in what the Renegade Lord was searching for. Worried that revealing his true purpose would bring about the future complications he attempted to avoid the subject. Stating that his business was his own. Which obviously angered the Word Bearer Commander but to the Lord Commanders luck the negotiations were forced to end as reports of Loyalist forces were beginning an assault on the Star Port. With an angry snarl the Word Bearer Commander agreed to Thadeous proposal with one stipulation. Only Thadeous would be allowed access to the Archives.

Quickly taking advantage of the situation Thadeous deploying the battalion that had arrived with him. Lead by Lieutenant Commander Ronan Dalge, a capable if not hot head officer that preferred to fight head on with the enemy. Commanded to engage the the Loyalist forces and to hold them at bay long enough for Thadeous to discover any clues of the 11th Legion. Ronan was eager to engage and was not disappointed as an old comrade revealed themselves to the Lieutenant Commander.

Scipio Ulysses Preator of the Ultramarines 421st company was leading the 13th legions elite forces commanded to aid in the assault of the Starport. Though he did not recognize the the heraldry of the once Ultramarines 19th Chapter gone renegade. He was eager to eliminate any that aligned themselves with the Deamon worshiping Word Bearers. He quickly began to see the that these mysterious black marines were far more resilient that he expected, but the initiative was made and there could be no retreat for the proud Ultramarine Preator. Charging at the forefront of his forces the Preator intended to push through the defenses but was repelled by the surprising strength of black Astartes. Scipio Ulysses was knocked down and would have certainly perished if not for the bravery of his men. Who, despite being push back, charged head first into the melee between the preators body guards and a unit of marauders to retrieve their fallen commander. When Scipio was revived after the retreat he poured over each surviving report of the mysterious black marines. All that he was able to discern was that the black marines were able to shrug off standard weaponry with relative ease and they were stronger than the average Astartes. Finishing his own report and sharing it with as many of the commanders as he could contact. The preator warned that these renegade marines clad in Black armor with helmets split in blue and red bore the numerals Eleven upon their left Pauldron.

Fate's Shadow

With the retreat of the loyalist forces Thadeous managed to uncover coordinates with a vague mention of an unnamed operation involving the sixth and thirteenth legions primarchs personally. Not wishing to waste any time the Seekers left without any delays from the Victorious Word Bearers. With the return of Thadeous's corvette he directed his fleet to the strange and secretive meeting of two well noted primarchs.

With in several weeks the fleet came upon a star with only a single planet with a single moon. The planet itself could not support life as it was void of any atmosphere and the surface was covered in a very fine black sand. The moon on the other hand appeared capable of sustaining a very small population. The moon was covered in extremely dense jungle with no mountains or other land markings. It has only a single large ocean that covered roughly fourty percent of the moons surface. Undeterred, Thadeous lead searches for any signs of Astartes on the moon. On the sixth day, in the deepest and most dense part of the jungle. Thadeous discovered that the trees of the moon had grown so interwoven with each other that they created an second level above the ground. With a single company Thadeous delved down to the ground floor where he was surprised to find an exotic ecosystem where many of the flora glowed florescent. While it provided light well enough to see by unaided many of the Astartes grew uncomfortable as the strange light throwing strange shadows each way they turned. Thadeous himself was enthralled by the strange beauty of the sub-level jungle. Leading on, the Lord commander and his single company retinue came across a strange pyramid like structure. Thadeous could not believe his eyes nor his luck and was eager to explore the the structure. Unable to contact the fleet directly from their position Thadeous sent a recon squad to relay their discovery to the Counsel of Keepers of Truth.

Thadeous strode towards the structure and made to take the first step to the top of the pyramid. Without warning raging shrieks pierced the relative quite of the surrounding jungle. White clad assailants glided out of the darkness to strike down unaware Astartes. Quick to action the Seekers began fighting back the forces that Thadeous recognized as Elder. Though the Seekers were incredibly resilient the Eldar where pushing them back with every strike. Soon the Lord Commander discovered himself at the top of the pyramid fighting with hand and hand against the Eldar. Where the leader of the ambush showing himself challenging Thadeous with taunts of weakness and a futile quest that will end with his death. With only a hand full of the company that accompanied him left. Thadeous had the intention of crushing the pointed ear bastard so that at very least his fallen brothers would have the satisfaction of vengeance in their name.

The battle appeared to lay at a stand still as the Astartes proved too resilient for the Eldar's attacks but no attacks of his own could land upon the dexterous Eldar. With only the elite of Thadeous's own unit still standing a piercing call was made from the base of the jungle. Distracting all in the melee as large creatures exploded from the treeline and up the side of the structure. The creatures tore through the Eldar forces with razor sharp talons and crushing beaks. Strangely enough none of the creatures attacked the surviving Astartes and even appeared to protect them. Using the moment of distraction to grab the Eldar leader with his powerfist Thadeous slammed him against the pyramid wall splattering blood across its wall. The final words from the Eldar leader spoke of an awakening doom upon the galaxy and that it would be the end of all life. With the final breath of the Eldar warrior the wall moved to a reveal a room with strange hieroglyphs lighting up all around the room. A recess in the room opened up revealing a curved weapon glowing with green power in the same hieroglyphs of the room. It was held in steady suspension above the floor. Thadeous claimed the weapon as a trophy and the hieroglyphs glowing stopped and while the weapon appeared of alien make and design he felt as if the weapon was meant for him as he effortlessly tested the weapon.

As he left the pyramid Thadeous was immediately confronted by one of the creatures that had saved his men and him. The creature easily towered over the Astartes which would be found impressive as nearly all the Astartes of the Renegade chapter were famously larger that the standard Astartes of other legions. The creature had the appearance of the legendary eagles of ancient terra with its head bearing a bone crushing beak and violet feathers about its head and front legs. At the end of the two front legs were four raptor sharp claws that looked like it could easily rend the cermite armor of a legionnaire. The rest of the creature was covered in a fine dark hide that ended in powerful hooves. Its long tail flicked behind it as with a mind of its own, the creature brought its head down to the eye level of Thadeous who had absently removed his helmet. As soon as the two made eye contact a flood of images rushed through Thadeous' mind.

The first image was of several men in tribal clothing exiting from a gate somewhere in the jungle. These men were young barely more than boys. The image quickly showed that these boys would walk through the jungle and search for the creatures and attempt to grab feathers from their heads. A few of the boys returned through the gate bearing a feather. Suddenly the vision flashed and new set of boys entered then left through the gate. The vision sped up showing hundred of boys coming through the gate in hopes of catching a creatures feather. The vision slowed when a new group of men arrived with one in particular towering above the rest. He bore a grin that seemed to spread from boy to boy. The vision showed a storm above the jungle. It showed the boys quickly retreating back to the gate but the grinning one was trapped under a tree and was left behind. The gate had closed and he was left wondering the Jungle. Constaintely watched by the creatures but never approached. Finally after a time the gate opened and the grinning boy left with a cloak of the creatures feathers.

The vision changed again with a near blinding light in the sky. When Thadeous looked up he could see the planet the moon orbited and watched as a massive flame spread across the planets surface. Then he saw the gate's shadow constantly passing by quickly as if time moved quickly, he watched as it never opened. Thadeous felt profoundly sad about this though he could tell they were not his own feelings. Once again the vision changed to the white armored eldar being watched moving through the shadows to the structure and how they watched over it. The vision continued with black armored men with helmets of blue and red approached the structure and then assaulted by the white armored Eldar. Anger seemed to build up inside Thadeous as he watched the black armored men die at the hands of the white armored Eldar, once again he noticed that they were not his own feelings. He then watched as the vision raced across the jungle and up the pyramid. He watched as the Eldar were torn apart. He even watched himself slam the Eldar leader into the pyramid wall. He then saw himself walk out the pyramid with the green bladed weapon. The visions ended with Thadeous staring into his own eyes from the creatures.

Suddenly Thadeous found himself with his forehead against the head of the creature's. He looked about him and saw that each of the Astartes that survived had done the same with a creature of their own. Even stranger he knew that the creature was just as brave and loyal as any Astartes. It would charge into battle with him with no fear. He had some how connected with the creature. He also knew that somehow this creature had once seen their primarch as a boy. That before his discovery the Eleventh Primarch had come to this moon in some barbaric ritual and returned through a strange gate.

A Legion No Longer

With the rediscovery of the Shadows of planet Black as the renegade legions began to call the first world. It was not long before more memories of the Truth began Awakening among the Astartes Renegade. Drawn to worlds unknown and unrecorded The Seekers of the Lost Primarch began splitting. Not of abandonment to the Blade of Truth but in expansion of his quest. Oddly enough Lord Commander Thadeous Strike had no fear of those leaving. For he knew they'd return bringing with them more pieces of the past lost. The fleet found itself in eleven parts, nine left with blood boiling by the pull to discover. Two remained by the Blade of Truth's side. The First feeling no pull and taking it as a honor to stand Sentinal. The Second content from their Awakening and looking to discover Truth by the side of their Blade.

Despite nearly seventy percent of the Fleet gone there would be a time when the other Nine would return and would need a place to recuperate. Supplies would be needed for such a time and with no world to call upon for these. The Seekers of the Lost Primarch, Renegades of the Legion Astartes would go pirating. The first to be raided would be that of a Sevastopol Station, a main trading hub currently in contestation between loyalist legions and traitor legions. With the confusion between the two forces Lord Thadeous planned to orchistrate rapid raids of supply fleets. Retreaving the supplies needed from both loyalist and traitor alike. Leaving traces of the opposing to lay blame upon so the Eleventh remained ghosts.

The first raid was shocking as the Crimson Srocerors of the Word Bearers summoned creatures unknown even to the Blade of Truth. Against Hellfire the forces of the Lord Commander Thadeous Strike barely defeated the vile creatures. Only upon the Final Strike with his strange xenos blade was Lord Thadeous able to banish the monsterious creature that was the vanguard of the Hellspawn. Though the mortal strike was laid upon the Daemon the creature struck the Lord Commander down. Instead of death the Blade of Truth found himself taken to his quarters aboard his Flagship "Veracity's Edge". It was later reported that the Lord Commander and his Shadow seemed to evaporate upon the Daemon's strike. The only act that gave any logical evidence was the Xenos Blade wielded by the Lord Commander glowed a foreboding green during the duel. The Lord Commander was curious of the new ability but had no time to spare. With his plan having begun there would be much more pressing matters to attend too.

The second raid began and this time Lord Thadeous had no intention for mercy. Even before the Betrayal of Calath he had no love for the Alpha Legion. Here had the opportunity to strike at them unawares. Overlooking a Mechanicum Supply caravan the Alpha Legion were hoping to sneak through using a less traveled route. A route familiar to the Lord Commander from his previous Raid. Taking the Traitor forces by surprise The Nameless and the Lightning Seekers left none alive. Leaving with the supplies from the caravan as well as the tools needed for the next raid.

The Third and Final Raid was upon the staunch Imperial Fists. With the fallen Alpha Legion bodies and gear left upon the battle field reserve forces of the Imperium would believe the attack upon those of the traitor. The forces of the traitor are easy enough to goad into a fight if the Forces of the Imperial Fists attack in blind vengeance. With the Imperial Fists on a path of Blind Vengeance near that of the World Eaters the battles upon Sevastopol Station would allow Thadeous Strike's forces to collect needed resources without too much conflict.
