History

Pre-Compliance

Nypour was one of the earlier colonised worlds in not only Pre-Imperial, but Pre-Conclave Oteal system. The Knight houses of the Cipaar twin worlds made the planet an early expansion world, initially to use as a penal colony of sorts but also to experiment with colonisation techniques. However even though it was intended as a form of punishment to be sent to the early settlement, most non noble colonists quickly found that conditions on the world were far better then on the Knight worlds both socially and economically. Without the ever present Knight Houses enforcing the harsh feudal hierarchy, a far less polarised set of communities formed with those in charge having to find other methods to maintain order rather than through the sheer fear of mighty Knight engines.

One of the unique cultural differences which emerged, was a planet wide religion. Monuments to the protective entities sprang up all across the world and proved to create a calming effect on the populace, so they were left in place and allowed to continue their peaceful worship.

At the time of the formation of the Baylon Conclave, the Kazitian Synod saw no use in the religion and believed it was a significant waste of resources (both material and time) to produce the monuments and their subsequent worship. The religion was outlawed and suppressed in the major Hives, however with little Synod oversight on the planet itself, pockets of the religion simply moved underground and continued in the dark.

Compliance

Similar to most of the planets within the System, Nypour was spared any direct damage from the Imperial Compliance through the shielding effect of the Synod. However the presence of the suppressed religion did draw the attention of Imperial Governor early on and, even though in direct fealty to Baylon, Nypour was visited a number of times by delegation of Iterators in an attempt to stamp our the ancient following. After each campaign of Imperial Truth from the Iterators the world would embrace the atheism of the Imperium.... and the Nypour Religion would burrow deeper into worlds hidden societies, becoming darker and more paranoid.

Post Compliance

Even before the shocking actions of Istvaan filtered through to the Australis Ultima Sector, the situation in the Oteal System had degenerated to dangerous levels. Rumours of military build ups on the Kazitian loyal planets persisted along with the myth that Dur-Kazit was being secretly rebuilt, however without any evidence the systems Governor could take no direct action against the planets as they were sworn to the Red Planet and owed him no allegiance.

With the onset of civil war and the Fabricator General openly siding with Horus, the Kazitian Synod seized the opportunity and declared independence of the Imperium, reforming the Baylonian Conclave and began mobilising its military. Desperately outgunned the Governor immediately issued a recall to all Imperial forces in the System and requested aid form the Sub-Sector Governor in Centrumeh Gate.

Before the Kazitian forces were able to fully muster, a small armada translated into the system, but not in response to the Governor’s call for aid. It was a splinter element of a fleet loyal to the Warmaster on its way to the Trugoy System to prosecute another war of eradication against the Loyalists. Unsure of the situation and unwilling to engage two potential enemies the Kazitian navy maintained a defensive posture while attempts to communicate with the new player were sent.

Despairing at now having to face two potential hostile forces, the Imperial presence in the system began to prepare for the worst and readied themselves for invasion. Hope blossomed momentarily when a signal from the VIIth was received, confirming that they were en route and less than two days out, this message however was followed quickly by the Sub-Sector wide broadcast from the Imperium, instructing all Loyal fleets to the Trugoy System.
