INFORMATION

OVERVIEW OF THE ORDO REDUCTOR

The Ordo Reductor are a sinister and secretive militant order of the Mechanicum, oriented first and foremost towards reducing the fortifications of enemies of the Red Planet. Their symbol is the 'Shattered Rook' however it is not just terrestrial fortifications they excel at reducing. They may be called to storm void stations, subterranean and fortified habitats, aquatic stations and cities, orbital defence networks, asteroid demesnes. They may also be deployed to crush and drive enemy forces in high danger zones such as rad-wastes, solar conflagrations, space hulks, unstable geological or biological structures, worlds inhabited by extremely dangerous alpha-predator-level fauna or flora, areas of gravitational flux, and psychically or dimensionally unstable areas or zones where basic human psychology cannot function or quickly breaks down.

Thallax are notoriously resistant to fear and confusion and the Marshalls of the Ordo Reductor are amongst the most merciless and cognisant battle leaders in the Mechanicum.

The Ordo Reductor is broken into many mendicant taskforces, moving around within warzones as requested, often times at the behest of an Explorator fleet searching for 'hard to get to' STC. Sometimes larger Reductor taskforces are requested by Astarte Commanders or Primarchs, who are loathe to waste their more tactically flexible troops in simple blunt force high fatality butcher-missions. Many smaller Reductor Taskforces are attached to Astarte-led Expeditionary fleets, Magos Reductor Covens and Myrmidons who provide priceless guidance on all aspects of siege warfare, and their retinues of thallax shock troops. In return the Astartes assist them with materiel and they are equipped for the most part with wargear and vehicles cleverly sharing many of the same technologies and parts, so as to increase efficiency.

The Ordo Reductor hold license to use many restricted and illicit wargear types, such as chemical and biological agents, nuclear and radiolocical weapons, and other weapons of Xenos and Dark Age of Technology design so destructive they're scarcely ever used. The Emperor himself allowing them to extinguish xenos civilisations, and permanently render uninhabitable planets at a level perhaps rivalled only by the Death Guard legion.

They are masters of reduction, mass destruction and massacre.

OVERVIEW OF THE OMEGA TASKFORCES

Omega-666 is one of many Ordo Reductor Task Forces under the Omega designation. They are used in savage forlorn hope engagements which the Thallax were designed for, closing the distance to a breach in the enemy defences or lines, and relentlessly butchering all enemies they come across. The Omega designation forces are known in Imperial High Command circles by the Old Earth fragment Les Enfants Perdus translated roughly as 'The Lost Children'.

Unlike other taskforces of the Ordo Reductor, who might reduce an enemy fastness via circumvallation and tireless bombardment, their primary role is to seize the breach in an engagement and push it in, destroying materiel and slaughtering weapons teams and support staff to make-safe for Enginseers and other Magos inbound in follow up waves - often times Magos keen on plundering the technological secrets and STC of these ancient pre-Imperial citadels and strong holds.

Omega-666 is comprised in the most part of Thallax Cohorts - savage and merciless cyborg assault troops, heavily armoured assault vehicles, and heavily armed Myrmidons. Once a breach has been forced by more static forces such as artillery bombardment, superheavy crawlers, air strikes or orbital bombardment, then the Thallax will be sent in to do the bloody deed. Sometimes they will jet towards a breach, taking huge casualties but forcing their way in. Sometimes several spearheads might be sent to simply escalade the walls. Sometimes they will be sprayed jet black and use their jets to push themselves through the void, landing on enemy ships and battlestations cutting their way inside with multi meltas and melta bombs. Or they may be air dropped onto their target via atmospheric haulers.

Whatever the tactic or strategy of their ingress, the results are the same. The systematic and remorseless butchery of all within. Siege work is some of the most brutal and unrelenting combat imaginable. Support crews and staff, the wounded and dying, surrendering or broken troops need to be massacred immediately lest the precarious hold on the breach be lost. Even mighty Astartes, moving up in waves following a full scale Thallax assault will sometimes blanch at the sight of the destruction wrought. Save perhaps Breacher squads of the Astartes, Thallax are some of the most uncompromising troops in the Imperium.

OMEGA-666

Leadership

Omega-666 is lead by a shadowy Archmagos Reductor known to Imperial forces as 'The Martian', an inscrutable cyborg of master-designed build, wielding a broad archeotech axe which has seen many foe, xenos and traitor alike fall to its swift blows. Only those within the inner circle of the Reductor are aware of the truth behind his dark genesis.

The being known as 'The Martian' was once a techno-barbarian king on Old Terra during the Age of Darkness. Ruling over a fortified hive containing vast Archeotech troves, he warred against plunderers from the Red Planet. After decades of remorseless combat his kingdom was extinguished and he was killed in a last ditch defence, going down fighting against maniples of Battle-Automata. Impressed by the tenacity of the ancient king, victorious Magos Reductor salvaged his brain and nervous system and interred them in a master-work prototype version of the Lorica Thallax. Kept in a data-cairn on Mars, the great crusade has called for great leaders and under a cyber-geas The Martian leads his Thallax minions into the most extreme combat imaginable.

History

Having fought alongside the Iron Tenth (Iron Hands) on many occasions, and debts of honour owed in both directions, The Martian immediately responded to Lord Ferrus' summons to strike at the traitors in the Istvaan system. Using their swift warp drives, The Barbican and escorts were amongst the first forces to arrive in-system and made planetfall via heavy lifters and gunships straight into the Urgall Depression. The massed Thallax and Land Raiders made relentless assaults against the fortifications and Legions clustered around the megalithic xenos structures present on the battlezone, but suffered grievous losses and moved back to a rear echelon to regroup and resupply. The fall of Ferrus and the arrival and betrayal by the four follow up legions came as a double hammer blow to The Martian, who realising the situation, decided to get-offworld as the fight was lost.

Breaking through the lines and rescuing a company sized element of Iron Hands under Terran Praetor Dio Attianus, The Martian led the remnants in a brief back-line insurgency against the Word Bearers legion, finally ambushing a dropped breacher contingent and seizing their Stormbird gunship. They laid low in the system for 239 hours before sending an encoded message and rendezvousing with The Barbican.

Swearing an Oath of Vengeance against the Traitor forces, they made for a little-known world and outpost of the Mechanicum to resupply and lay low - the forest world of Baphomet. Finding the primary Forge-Station and research bases under attack by Nightlords forces, Omega-666 fell with vengeance upon them, shattering their small fleet with a surprise Zero-G void intrusion attack on their ships by Thallax cohorts, followed by direct insertion onto the planet itself. Scattering the Night Lords into the deep woods, they met with the inhabitants of the word, the Myrmidon Brotherhood known as The Sons of Kouretes. Together they stripped what technology and STC they could from Baphomet, burning the rest, and reclaiming the various Night Lords ships.

They set out once more for vengeance.

Current Composition

Omega-666 is a fleet based shock-force able to deploy into a variety of environments. Operating around their immense battleship-grade assault ship The Barbican which functions as the primary supply and refit plus cannibalisation and refit factorum of the taskforce. The Barbican is escorted by four Sword Class Frigates, and several smaller and unorthodox pattern destroyers, some of which are designed for inter-atmospheric assault.. During the retreat from Istvaan, Omega-666 met with a Loyalist Rogue Trader and his small remnant fleet which had been decimated during the apocalyptic space battle in the Istvaan system. After the battle and cannibalisation of the stations at Baphomet, two ex-Night Lords cruisers were added to the adhoc fleet, the latter ships being reconsecrated and handed to the sovereignty Sons of Kouretes, replacing ships lost during Baphomets invasion.

The primary power of Omega-666 is the massed ranks of the Thallax shock troop cohorts. Although brought to slaughter at Istvaan V and only escaping with a fraction of his forces, The Martian has had his Magos covens working overtime rebuilding their strength, currently at around five thousand troops (or fifty cohorts). Due to the nature of the cyborg Thallax, they are easily repaired with stock parts brought up from the immense storage vaults and manufactorum on board The Barbican.

A large percentage of the taskforce's vehicles were crushed and abandoned on Istvaan V, however the fleet has been resupplied with fresh Triaros and Krios chassis tanks from storage on Baphomet, and captured a small fleet of Land Raiders aboard the Nightlords' ships, being too large to navigate the deepwoods on the surface. Refurbished and deconsecrated, these Land Raiders would carry Myrmidons and Iron Hands into battle. Added to those tanks are many reserve super heavies refurbished during the long hours of warp transits by Enginseers and Magos.

Taghmata Corublo - The Omega-666 Taskforce although initially shattered at Istvaan V, has slowly rebuilt its power, mostly by incorporating other Loyalist elements and fleets. The major components are the Reductor and other specialist Mechanicum Vessels of Omega-666, and the mighty fleet of Rogue Trader Hugo Grindleman. There are many smaller elements however, some such as the Sons of Kouretes are without naval assets and are spread across most of the fleet, concerned with strengthening and upgrading weapons systems, some such as the Fellhounds have their own Vessels. Collectively this fleet operates under the name Taghmata Corublo.

The Sons of Kouretes Myrmidon Brotherhood, led by Archmagos Myrmidax Apollodorus, numbering around one thousand Myrmidons including the much feared 'Golden Band' phalanx made up of veteran Destructor Hoplites. Supplemented by several hundred Magos and Adepts, along with regiments of sinister Guardian-Automata.

The Black Quantum, a Lacyraemarta Sect spread across many Forgeworlds in the Segmentum Solar and beyond, they are a clearing house for human flesh in myriad forms. Their huge armies of tech-thralls are always at the ready, if the buyer is ready to reciprocate in technology or some other more esoteric payment. The Martian has used The Black Quantum extensively post-Istvaan, not only to swell the numbers in the field but to also procure subjects for forced conversion into Thallax and Ursarax. The Black Quantum has constantly operated under accusations of Heretek and Dark Mechanicum, however have managed to evade pogrom via political means, and their usefulness and some of their services being crucial to the operation of many worlds and industries across the nascent Imperium. The Black Quantum's primary power is their endless waves of augmented tech thralls, however due to their prestige their forces are heavily supplemented with armoured vehicles, as well as Vorax and Vulturax hunter-killer automata.

Legio Cybernetica Cohort Decius IV, A full strength Battle Automata Assault Cohort, not deployed to Istvaan V and thought to be at near full strength and supplemented by additional Automata salvaged in the Inferno Warzone.

Battlefleet Grindleman, The powerful personal warfleet of Rogue Trader Hugo Grindleman. Grindleman was exiled from earth with a Warrant of Exploration towards the end of the Unification Wars. A fabulously rich oligarch on Terra, he politically rubbed against the emerging Imperial Household. Having had enough of his irritation the Emperor of Mankind himself signed his warrant, allowing him to transpose his household and all of his assets off-world. Grindleman chose to purchase several regiments of elite Solar Auxilia, outfitted himself with a fleet from Mars, and crewed most of his ships with Thralls purchased from the Black Quantum. His escapades in the following centuries cannot be related here due to time and space, however he should be regarded as one of the great heroes of the Imperium. Standing proud in the annals of Man and Martian alike, Grindleman is also known among many races of Xenos, some such as the Eldar and Demiurg as friend, however many many more in the Ghoul Stars and beyond as a terrible foe, destroyer, and genocider of their people. Battlefleet Grindleman had rendezvoused with Omega-666 so that their staff could receive biological exterminatus weapons, and his crews could train in their use, when fate led their combined fleet to Istvaan V at the call of Ferrus Manus. Whether Grindleman will return to the Ghoul Stars to deliver this cargo of death is history yet to be written.

Iron Hands 46th Extermination Company, The Fellhounds, A much reduced force of Terran veterans of the Unification Wars, the company mostly consisting of Tactical Veterans and Destroyer Cadres were surrounded and near overrun when The Martian's force fell upon the Word Bearers, routing them. The mighty Terran hero Dio Attianus, hearing the news of Ferrus' death from the Martian later aboard the Barbican, swore a blood oath giving their lives to the Ordo Reductor, as long as they continue their path of vengeance against the traitors. After Baphomet, several captured Night Lords vessels were given over to the Fellhounds.

The Iron Stars, a company of Freeblade Knights, recruited from the Inferno Warzone, these mighty warriors were drawn to the Loyalist side, fighting alongside the Imperial Fists of Marshall Arminius and The Martian's forces during that conflict. In return for supply and protection the Iron Stars have proven themselves to be heroes in the Loyalists cause, finding glory on Trugoy, Centrumeh, Inferno, Agif, Golloch, and The Spindral Wastes.
