History

As the ranks of the First Legion swelled upon the discovery of their Genefather, there was always those that would be needed to lead these new recruits and help to guide them i the practices of the Six Hosts. So it was that the Chapter Champion Athelas was to be promoted to the rank of Praetor.

Though Athelas was of Terran stock, he was not of the first batch of Space Marines that would conquer Terra against the techno barbarians, instead he was of those that would first be sent to the stars in the Emperors name upon the ships of the new alliance with Mars. His ability with a blade quickly saw him gain renown amongst the Legion, until finally the Legion Master rose him to the elite ranks of the Legion Champions, while also serving within the Hexagrammaton of what would later be known as the Ravenwing. Here he continued to serve with distinction, mastering both the Blade and the Jetbike until the Legion and its father were reunited.

Upon his promotion,Athelas was of the opinion that the traditions of The Order were irrelevant, and during the training of his recruits, he ensured that they were to be guided by many of the oldest veterans of the great crusade in an attempt to slowly assimilate all of his Legionaires into the old way. Instead though this created a rift within the 35th Order, with many of the new recruits resenting losing what they saw was their real heritage.

When the Lion split his Legion, the 35th were left under the command of Corswain, who in turn instructed Athelas to make all haste for the Australis Subsector. With one of the princple roles of the Ravenwing being Intel gathering, Corswain needed to know where the loyalties of the Baron families and the local Sectors there lay. Though he had been instructed to avoid direct combat, skirmishes quickly escalated in the Inferno Sector, and a hasty withdrawal was called for to Rally at the world of Trugoy before a proper return to the rest of the Legion could be organised.

Trugoy would turn out to be the real test for the 35th Order, as Athelas led his forces trying to help the Loyalists build a staging point, crushing the traitors before him. His aggressive strategies ended up forcing him to come to blows with forces of the Ultramarines, and also the Mechancum before fighting what they believed to have been the warmaster himself.

After initially attempting to leave the Trugoy system to regroup with the majority of the First Legion, Athelas intercepted communications regarding the Geigenhive and the archeotech horde within it, seeing this as too big a risk to leave to anyone else a rapid insertion team was dropped off in the hive while he ordered the fleet to give 72 hours before extraction. Leading the 35th through the sub levels would prove costly though as the Rad Furnaces ended up blowing wiping out nearly the entire expedition inside the hive, including Athelas himself and most of the chain of command.

With the leadership currently dead, it's unsure yet who will retain control of the 35th Order, those of Terran decent seeing one of their own as the riteful successor; while the Calibanites are not wanting to lose more of their own identity.
