Battle Summary
Breaking from the warp, sheathed in unnatural light, a lonely Iron Hands battle barge emerged into the cold void surrounding the Lincon system. Badly damaged, it seemed nothing less than a miracle that the ship had been able to withstand the turmoil of warp travel without breaking apart. The ship had set out to quench Horus' rebellion at Istvaan V, acting as a second wave to support Ferrus Manus and the rest of his sons that had already initiated the assault of the traitor forces on the surface. However, during the ships arrival to the space surrounding Istvaan V the chaotic state of hundreds of ships coordinating the assault forced it to take a wider orbit of the planet, delaying the deployment of its Legionaries. When they finally are ready to assist the traitors spring their trap and the battle barge take fire from Alpha Legion and Iron Warrior ships. Thanks to the quick reaction and skilled maneuvers of the ship's captain the battle barge managed to escape the worst of the enemy salvos and even deploy crafts to rescue a few of their brothers on the surface. It then escaped through the warp, without the time to calculate any specific location, and ended up in the outskirts of the Lincon System. Since the time in warp space differs from that of real space the surviving Iron Hands found the system already besieged by conflict. Early scans and scraps of communication indicated fighting between Raven Guard, Iron Warriors, World Eaters and more. Not knowing who to trust, the battle barge headed to the relatively calm planet Lincon Secondus, to load up on munitions and make repairs.
What the Iron Hands did not know was that yet another ship shortly followed in its wake. The Emperor's Children, led by no other than Lord Commander Eidolon, entered the system to make sure the surviving Iron Hands could not spread the word of Horus' rebellion and the outcome of Istvaan V. Captain Zaven of the 45th Company was sent to the surface of Lincon Secondus with a small strike force to eradicate the small force of Iron Hands that had begun establishing a safe drop zone. In the battle that followed Praetor Iris Actavis, leader of the Iron Hands, managed to surprise the Emperor's Children with undamaged Legionaries filled with fury from witnessing the massacre at Istvaan and killed Zaven and all of his force. The survivors were stronger than the Lord Commander had anticipated...
