The planets surface is

Population

The population of this desolate, fiery world are small in number and very reclusive. The planets surface is covered in countless streams and rivers of lava and harsh unforgiving terrain. With the planet having barely any atmosphere and an extremely high surface temperature The populace is kept to a minimum requirement. Being a weapons testing outpost the Population is made up of the researchers, minimum support staff, security detail and the families of these individuals.

The main facility on the planet is Weapons research laboratory alpha 1. It is housed a safe distance away from the planets only real colony Vosculia 1, this is where the staff of the research facilities and their families are housed. With a total population of only 7,321 (not including the Garrison) this planet's purpose is not to house the people of the Imperium, but to design weapons of war to destroy their enemies.

The security garrison is relatively small, this is to maintain the relative level of secrecy required to keep the facility from unwanted prying eyes. Vosculia 1 maintains a civil militia which tends to the peoples policing needs, and for defence one solar Auxilia Regiment is cycled through the garrison once every Solar year from Eglurn. Of this Garrison one Cohort from the posted regiment cycles through as the laboratories security once every solar month.

This research colony relies more on secrecy than force for its defence. The Garrison is only really in place to maintain law and order and internal security, if the outpost is ever threatened the protocol is to evacuate and then blast the sight from orbit, only forming a defensive effort if escape is not possible.

While these are the primary outposts on the planet, there are a number of minor outposts scattered around Vosculia all of which have the express purpose of testing various different weapons and their effects. This is, ofcourse top secret and specifications on these outposts and their staff are not available.

With the war for the Eglurn system spiraling into even deeper conflict, Vosculia remains on a moments notice to move. Drop ships and transports are close by incase the planet must be evacuated.

History

Pre-Compliance

Pre Imperial occupation Vosculia was completely inhabited and originally considered uninhabitable. Its treacherous terrain and overall condition for life to thrive in made it an overlooked backwater. Pre Compliance Vosculia was nothing but a barren rock of fire and death.

Compliance

After the system capital Eglurn was settled by the Imperium, they needed a place to dump toxic waste and leftover product from both the war effort for the system and the occupation of Eglurn. The Imperium looked to Vosculia, literally dumping hazardous waste and left over materials from the atmosphere into the great lava lakes of the world.

It wasnt long after this that the Imperial army realized that Vosculia would make the most unsuspecting research base you could find anywhere. So the Laboratory was soon set up and researchers moved from all corners of the Imperium brought to the new facilities. Having such a cultural mix in such a small confined area was a breeding ground for discontent and mutual distrust. To ease these tensions Imperial command thought it a good idea to raise up a small colony, comprising of the researchers families. In some ways this relieved the tensions and raised moral, but in others it was just an even powder keg.

So lastly A Solar Auxillia regiment was permanently posted to Vosculia. Under the label of protecting a high value facility but in reality a Single regiment would never do much to stop any serious invasion attempt, no the regiment was really posted to Vosculia in order to maintain security and keep the peace.

Post Compliance

As the Age of darkness rages on, Vosculia maintains for the time being the same political ambitions as Eglurn, which is officially the governing body of Vosculia. They outwardly express sympathies for the Imperium and maintain their supposed loyalty, but truth be told they will actively side with the first side whom land on their planet, being little more than a few thousand strong and with only one Auxillia regiment as defense the Overall director of the facility has no illusions of resisting any invaders. Instead he seeks to use his advanced testing facilities and weapon prototypes as leverage for the colonies, and ultimately his own, survival.
