Description
The Dead Sisters, Kerr and Carmine, are a binary planet: Two planetary bodies that orbit each other around a common center of gravity, as well as around their host star. It is unknown why these two planets were never terraformed or colonized; however, Mechanicus Adepts theorize that the complex gravitational and magnetic fields produced by the orbiting binary made settlement unattractive to the system’s original colonizers.
Kerr's airless and lifeless surface is far from unoccupied. It is dotted with auspex stations, Macro Cannon batteries, Apocalypse Missile silos, command strongpoints, and other similar defensive structures. Any enemy wishing to attack the Naval base on nearby Carmine must contend with these considerable defenses before making any progress. Manning the defenses is a lonely and thankless duty, there being fewer amenities available on Kerr than even on the spartan Carmine OB-P facility. Adding to the distaste of service on the defensive perimeter is the certain knowledge that, should Kerr be attacked, the defender's lives have been projected to be measurable in minutes.
