Battle Summary
Squad Vanadium cleaning their weapons after a rigorous drill by sergeant Hohlklinge and discussing the next mission. After the scrap with the Sons of Horus the armen Hunde were retracted for refit to the cruiser. Politics in Diabolisgaard had gone out of control and support for the warmaster was rising. The delegatus had spoken with the brother seargent about the possibility to get support from the culexus temple. According to the deployment orders Eisen´s squads were scheduled to be dropped at 14:00 hours in the Belzebub sector in the vicinity of Diabolisgraad. Alas there was no assistance from a single specialist was to be expected but the hunde were to be commanded by Praetor Schläger who would bring a unit of Volkite Culverin armed Marines and two Land Raider Phobos. The goal was to take out a traitorous company of Solar Auxilia who were in control of a super-heavy. After a quick deployment the Iron Tenth was approaching an area with derelict ruins in the shadow of the spires of hive world Diabolisgaard on the look out for 4 communication units it was supposed to take in addition to taking out the traitor scum. On the left flank the heavy bolter squad was deploying behind a ruined building they were planning to scale for a better field of fire. Later on they would punish any infantry in view and range. Behind them a unit of Immortals were beginning to make their long march around the building and then straight ahead to capture one of the communication units and demolish all infantry on top of the device. Next bold and proud Praetor Schläger was leading two attack bikes revving his own bike and giving last commands via vox. The two units of Gorgon Terminators were loaded into their land raiders. A second support unit had already climed another building and hoistering their volkites. Next two them two thud guns were loading thier barrels and to the right squad Vanadium was entering the Rhino. Eisen tried to cram his boarding shield into the vehicle but decided to walk on foot instead. With a low rumble some stormvariant of a behemoth was closing in flanked by two vanquisher tanks. Further units of Solar Auxilia las rifle units were entering the area widespread. The two land raiders were advancing slowly and laying fire on the superheavy and the vanquishers, all anti personell fire was directed against the various lasrifle sections. Eisen and the rhino were quickly advancing to free the communication post to the right of the auxilia. The praetor was advancing with the attack bikes full tilt to come close to the halted superheavy and one of the vanquishers. Yet despite a number of crumpled infantrymen only minor damage on the vehicles were caused. The auxilia opened fire on a wide front. Praetor Schläger was shielding the attack bikes with the bulk of his ride, but when the superheavy opened up with a fusilage of dozen of shots he was exhaling loudly when he only received a flesh wound. The mobile elements of the iron tenth advance further in the crossfire of the traitors but did not succeed to make a dent in the traitor armour as either the muli melter of the attack bikes only scorched terrain or the lascannons would not penetrate the hulls. On the right squad vanadium had left the protection of the rhino to slaughter the lasrifle wrap around the second vanquisher while the rhino tried to make the new multi melter count. The praetor cruised to the super heavy that had suffered to some extent so far and swung his thunderhammer, the marines on the sidecars leaned out to place melter bombs on the first vanquisher. The preator damaged the behemoth somewhat, but it was still intact as was the vanquishers after the charges on its hull somehow fell off before detonation. A single unit of axe wielders left the security of the super heavy and the vanquisher could explode the rhino. The veletaris storm section charged the praetor and in close combat not even the advanced halo field could save the bold leader. The iron tenth retaliated by advancing on all fronts. The terminators clambered out of their respective land raiders, squad vanadium charged the lasrifles and the remaining attack bike dropped the rest of their charges next to the vanquisher turret. All the heavy weapons could not succeed in bringing down the super-heavy. A charge by the elite of the Iron tenth was needed. When the Gorgons waded in and cut sections out of the vehicle with their chain fists a catastrophic explosion tore the tank apart. Only a handful of Ogres, the cursed leader and an apothecary with some sort of dentists lounge were left alive. All the flamer bearer succumed to the prometheum spilled. The traitors charged the terminators but were routed after several rounds of combat and the traitors turned to run. Informed about the development in the center he stepped down from the vox bunker and assumed command again.
