Aquilus Viator deployed on Cerberus, its birth planet

One of the two original Warhound Titans manufactured by Legio Crucius Templari on their Forge World, Cerberus. Immediately after its field trial the Aquilus Viator or Dark Wanderer was dispatched to serve and train with a Maniple of Engines with its parent Legio; the Warmongers. For a number of centuries the Warhound travelled from Sector to Sector, its Princeps requesting transfers to active warzones each time its assigned Campaign completed, registering the most Engine walks for a Titan in its first two centuries of active duty.

Summary: Fielded in concert with its twin, the Aquilus Viator made some early kills of a Greater Daemon and Brass Scorpion along with suppression manouvres in co-operation with the Sicarius Deos. Withstanding a large amount of incoming fire, the Titans void shields remained lit for the majority of the engagement. The Warhounds partnership was ended, however, when a corrupted Ork Stompa flanked the pair and cut down the Sicarius Deos. Although the Viator avenged the blow by annihilating the Stompa, the damage was already done.

Flooding the area with plasma and laser destructor fire, the Viator attempted to buy time for its twins stricken crew and make way for a Legio recovery team, however without its partners covering fire, its Void Shields were quickly stripped and it started sustaining heavy internal damage. A critical plasma containment breach signaled the end for the Viators walk and the Princeps ordered the bleeding engine forward into the gathering Daemon forces before intentionally timing an overload in the reactor moments after ejecting the cockpit.

The resulting explosion bought valuable time and destraction for the embattled Iterator forces and the Daemon offensive was ultimately repelled. The remnants of the shattered Warhounds chassis was immediately recovered and brought back to Cerberus where the might of the entire Forge World was brought to bear to repair the Engine and recover the machine spirit.
