History

The Tyrant's Guard go to war
The Tyrant's Guard go to war
Never strict adherents to the Codex Astartes; by the time the Astral Claws ceded from the Imperium of man and ignited the Badab War, their forces and organisational structure had deviated significantly from the statutes laid out by Roboute Guilliman. Numerous additional sub-forces and specialist orders of battle were created and deployed against those who would challege the Astral Claws' right to freedom.

The Tyrant's Guard began as an extension of the First Company which would go on to form the personal guard of Lugft Huron during his tenure as the Tyrant of Badab. Drawn from the largest and most imposing warriors of the Astral Claws, each member of the Tyrant's Guard was expected to be a menacing projection of the Tyrant's authority and power. To this end, they often eschewed transports, preferring instead for their enemies to see the force arrayed against them. This tactic cowed many armies of the Imperial Guard who would later go on to provide men and materiel for the Tyrant's Legion.

Led by the most notorious and legendary of the Astral Claws' heroes and supported by Siege Dreadnoughts and light air support, the Tyrant's Guard became one of the most feared formations of the Badab War, striking like lightning and leaving nothing but devastation in their wake.

Often led by Lugft Huron himself, the Terminators of the Tyrant's Guard excelled at naval boarding actions and strike-and-fade teleport assaults, often using pre-placed teleport homers to redeploy from one flank to another, constantly wrong-footing their enemies.

On those rare occasions that he could be coaxed from leading the mortal hordes of the Tyrant's Legion, Carnac Commodus would often deploy alongside the Tyrant's Guard; his viciousness marrying well with the shock-and-awe tactics favoured by his Chapter Master's elite warriors.

Captain Corien Sumatris would also spend time with the Tyrant's Guard during the Badab War, often leading them in devastating counter-charges where the enemy pressed Huron's warriors in great strength.

As the Badab War took its toll, many of the Tyrant's Guard were interred in Dreadnought sarcophagi, their wounds too severe to allow them to continue fighting otherwise. These resurrected veterans would form the core of Forge Master Valthex's personal guard and primary assault force.
