The Shields of Dorn chapter is the 32nd chapter in the order of battle for the seventh legion.
Their initial formation as a fighting force was established in the Himalayas battling witch covens on the Yndonesic Bloc. Bereft of mobile support and unable to call for aerial cover due to weather the Shields of Dorn were left to face the brunt of the attack stoically. It was after days of constant battle that the Shields of Dorn resisted continued attacks and finally pushed the Yndonesic Bloc Forces back down into valleys where allied artillery was able to destroy them in concentrated barrages while they were trapped within the frozen valleys.
Since then the Shields of Dorn have always operated as a blocking force within any engagement. They specialise in stopping in its tracks enemy assaults, pinning the enemy in place so an allied force can sweep in a destroy them with little opposition. The Legio Crucius Templari is a sub faction of Legio Crucius, the Warmongers Titan Legion. Formed after the founding of the minor Forge World, Cerberus, and the close bonds which formed between the Imperial Fists based in the area (the Kildrech Crusade), the local Knight House (House Kildare) and the Mechanicus forces; the sub Legio is an oath bound unit which always serves alongside the Imperial Fist forces based in the Kildrech System.
This Oath is held as the principal reason for the Legio to have followed the Kildrech Crusade, to latter become the Company of Kildare, into secession from the Imperium at large. While the parent Legio (Crucius) has not openly supported or condemned such a political move, it is suspected that the Legio heads are willing to allow such an action as a safe guard during the turbulent times of the Heresy.
