Population
Boasting close to three billion inhabitants, the second largest population in the System, Betalis II is one of the three planned Hive Worlds to support the massive amount of colonists the migration treaties are sending Rimward following the expansion of the Great Crusade. Currently the population is distributed across the two operational Hives on opposite sides of the planet, with a third, far smaller, concentration located in a cavern network being expanded and settled.
History
While deemed toxic, the planets atmosphere, at lower altitudes, is breathable with the aid of very low tech filtration masks, for this reason it was deemed acceptable to designate the planet as an industrial hive world. Although lacking in many richer natural resources, the planet has enormous reserves of common metals which will be useful to produce everyday items and non military grade goods for civilian use.
