Breaking of Centrumeh Gate~Ep.1 - ACT of Heresy: Raynes
Loyalists Involved In The Conflict
Secessionists Involved In The Conflict
Traitors Involved In The Conflict
With the Truce of Nobles invoked for the Hastilude shattered, the war on Raynes escalated faster than either of the two other planets in Centrumeh. Dozens of Knight Houses and their engines discarded the cease fire and launched raids against rivals, mobilized in support of their allies or began withdrawing from the planet; in all cases each action was met with heavy resistance. Loyalist forces quickly deployed from orbit in support of the incumbent House Horne, but found that not only were the Traitors already entrenched on the planet but the Knight House was not receptive of the Imperial support, their loyalties having reverted to their former masters on Sudeen.
Caught between an invading force and one which was actively rebelling the Loyalists grip on the Knight world slipped almost instantly. Initially deploying their forces as garrisons scattered along defensive lines held by the Knight of House Horne anticipating that they would be used as supplementary units the Emperors troops had to rapidly regroup and change tactics as they came under concentrated attacks from two different enemies, their only saving grace was the fact that it appeared that the forces of the Warmaster were coming under just as heavy attack as the Loyalists. The confusion was heightened further when apparent mercenary units of both Astartes and militia supporting Mechanicum contingents launched counter attacks against both Imperial forces in an attempt to dislodge them from their tenuous foot hold on the world.
However battle lines quickly solidified and the initial chaos quickly died away to far more strategic maneuvers as the Imperial forces experience and discipline allowed them to regroup into defensive position before arranging reinforcements. As both Loyalist and Traitor commanders on the ground submitted orders to their respective fleets a new front opened up as boarding actions were launched between the armadas. On this front, the forces of the Emperor gained the upper hand.
As the war spread across the rest of the system, communiques filtered through the Loyalist command echelons advising of the successful seizure of one of the remaining Sudeen stealth orbital weapon platforms. Instantly the guns were turned onto the Traitors unprepared fleet, and while the controls were wrested from them a number of times, the Loyalists always quickly regained ownership, renewing their bombardment on the enemy fleet. Using this covering fire above Raynes the Loyalist boarding actions quickly crippled a number of enemy Escorts and turned their attention to a Cruiser, the Accipiter, moving into Orbit preparing to disgorge reinforcements.
Moving to intercept as best they could, a Loyalist Escort launched a valiant assault against the Cruiser but quickly came under heavy return fire. Rather than breaking off as would normally be expected, the Escort instead accelerated to inside the Accipiters main weapons arc and continued to accelerate to ramming speed, its own ship already under attack from counter boarding parties. Launching boarding craft and running the teleporter arrays at maximum the Escort emptied all but a skeleton crew into a concentrated sector of the enemy cruiser, allowing their own ship to be overcome, but not soon enough to prevent the two ships from impacting. With the Escort all but lost the Loyalist command gave the order to target the next volley of fire from the orbital platform at the embattled ships, euthanizing the dying escort and crippling the Traitors ship. Aboard the Accipiter, however, the assault continued with Loyalist forces swarming the Aft engine sections, overwhelming the Death Guard and their Alpha Legion allies. Sensing the battle lost, the Alpha Legion forces suddenly withdrew, teleporting to the surface of the planet, leaving the remaining Death Guard forces to face the Loyalist on their own, and failed. With control of the primary engines but knowing they would not be able to hold them for long, the boarders instead sabotaged the systems and sent the ship into a descending orbit, dooming the vessel and more than likely a good portion of the planet itself.
Planetside the Lord of House Horne looked skyward with horror, their world, plagued by multiple wars, dishonor and treachery was now to be victim of a falling behemoth. Yet their vows of allegiance held them firm, their master on Sudeen needing and valued them and would preserve their House, this, the Lords, repeated to themselves as an arcane link with an unknown party formed in the High Lords Chambers. With the simple words "Free yourselves" a burst of data exploded into every cogitator in the fortress, instantly scrolling through and displaying the extensive plans laid down by the Mechanicum conclave on Sudeen, the Houses Masters, to make House Horne the sacrificial lamb to trigger the war and the conclaves secession.
As if mirroring the Knight Lords fury, massive warp storms erupted across the planets surface as the Pyschic link was severed, leaving the Knights masterless and soon to be homeless. Without hesitation the Lords declared themselves free of oath bonds and announced the entire House Freeblade, commencing an immediate evacuation of their former world.
