Population

The population of Gospel consists of a large number of Adeptus Administratum functionaries ranging from the Imperial Commander of the facility down to the lowly dockhands, who run the day to day activities of the station. Numbering about half a million souls permanently garrisons on the station, that number is however dwarfed by the millions of servitors working in the shipyard construction facilities.

History

Gospel was discovered orbiting the world of þungur Metallikos during the Great Crusade by captains of the 38th Expeditionary Fleet under the overall command of Lord Marshal Nayel Reimmeron Vaxisys, whose family would go on to rule over the Hive World of Armageddon.

Gospel owns its name due to the outer surface of the station being completely engraved in binary. No one have yet to interpret the binary code that covers the entire shipyard but many Mechanicum scholars have spent entire lifetimes trying to deceiver the code believing it to be a message from the Omnissiah. Once compliance of þungur Metallikos was accomplished work quickly started to turn Gospel into an extensive ship-forge and munition manufactoria supporting the Great Crusade’s push further east in the Centrumeh Sub-Sector.

As the nature of the Imperium slowly changed, the Great Crusade had nearly accomplished what it had sailed out to do, conquer the galaxy, but now other needs arose. The new vast domains of the Imperium had to be policed and protected; the Australis UIltima Sector had to be secured. This would then be Gospel’s new purpose. In each of the Sectors in the Segmentums a Port Secundus would be installed: a homebase for permanently detached Battlegroups and where Expeditionary Fleets or other expeditions could resupply and repair. In parallel whole armies of Auxilia would also be stationed at these key-systems as the armadas would serve as both rapid-reaction forces and deep-range space patrols to respond to sudden threats such as civil unrest, rebellion or outside attacks. Soon the outer planetoid and indeed the entire star-system were given over to other space-faring installations and the Waacos system was one of them.
