  • Citadel currently held by the Rogue Trader in secrecy and being refitted for purpose
  • Promethium Trade contract being held in favour for 7 years

History

The original settlement of Svard was apparently established as a Gas Mining colony only three to four centuries prior, however based on the population, infrastructure and the amount of mining which has already been undertaken this time frame is suspect and contradicts the log information on the Stella Tenebris. The Original Exploration and Survey of the Svard system is stated to have occurred in 371. M38 by Thaadius Lorick Who was at that time the holder of the Lorick warrant of trade. Seeing the profit within the system Thaadius established a colony Upon Svard I in 374.M38. The Svard system continued to produce profit for the Lorick dynasty until contact was lost in 524.M41. The main exports for the Svard system were Promethium, ore and unique Crystal that only grows upon Svard VII.

System Overview

The Svard system is centered upon an Ancient and bloated red star. Most of the Svard system has been reduced to rubble and asteroids fields and dust clouds, However one single Planet remains. Dubbed Svard Prime, this massive gas giant sits on the very edge of the systems bio-zone. Svard prime, much like the rest of the system is dying, it may take several millinna however as the planet bleeds out into space. This boiling "storm" of planetary atmosphere floods the area around Svards Prime with charged partials and heavy vapors. Engulfing many of the moons in a spectacular cloud of Red,white and yellow. This "storm" is also very profitable, making gas mining easy and the finished product of high quality.

Svard Prime has seven objects in orbit.

Svard I: An Icy dwarf planet of breathable type I atmosphere.

Svard II/COG: A smaller ice moon. Breathable type II atmosphere ( Rebreathers suggested).

Svard III/Silence: Lifeless Asteroid trapped in Svard Primes gravity. Survey indicates low or no desirable ore content.

Svard IV/Glory: Lifeless Asteroid. Trapped in Svard Primes gravity Survey shows high reading of Iron and copper ore.

Svard V/ Blecker's moon: Small Moon. No Atmosphere, high gravity. Mineralogical surveys look promising.

Svard VI/Hazard: Medium sized Moon, Type V atmosphere, extremely hazardous.

Svard VII/Callose: Lifeless Asteroid trapped in Svard Primes gravity. Survey shows high iron content and large Crystal growths

System Detail

Svard I

Capital of the system, It was chosen as such as it rides the outer Edge of the storm, allowing docking without having to navigate the storm itself. The fact it also had a breathable if cold Atmosphere helped. Besides being the main port in the system Svard I also maintained the systems Cargo and fuel haulers. Inventory shows at last count the fleet stood at 32 System ships. Svard I also controlled the inner system mining operations. This operation consist of no less than eight massive mining ships. As the Capital of the system Svard I was also the most populated with thirty-seven million people living within three hives across the frozen surface. These Hives are named Nobilis, Davoess, and Tavlin.

The Crystal Council has recently been displaced in favor of the newly appointed Imperial Governor, Sarium, the Son/Nephew of the Sector Governor of Calixis. This change of power has upset a huge portion of the Ice Moon, especially the nobility, however outer planets and habitations are less angered and more concerned about the newly incoming administrator.

Svard II

Named Cog, Svard II became the Svard systems Industrial complex. The moon has but one massive factory mounted upon tracks and moves across the surface, leaving toxic waste in its wake. Whatever native flora once existed here is long dead and the Type II atmosphere has become a type III due to the waste emissions. Breathing gear is required. At last contact Cog was led by a small cadre of tech-priests under Magos Tevla and had a Population of three hundred thousand. At least half of those being Sevitors.

Repairs are underway to bring the Cog's tracks back up to optimal efficiency after a prolonged period of falling under Whisperer control. The public story of the Rogue Trader assisted resistance and eventual retaking of the facility is a popular one amongst the outer colonies as it was considered the turning point of the dismantling of the Whisperers hold on the System. Rumours that the Mechanicum then diverting huge amounts of resources to looting and salvaging caches of equipment from a previous Rogue Trader dynasty are dismissed by the Magos as fiction.

Svard III

Known as Silence, Svard III is the home to a small dedicated group of sculptors whose goal seems to be crafted a perfect replica of each of the blessed saints. At last point of contact this community was a single domed colony. Records show the population to be forty-seven hundred. The scouting mission revealed that the entire inhabitants of the colony were killed during the Whisperer incident with huge amount of damage done to the works of art, including a heretical destruction of famed statue of the God-Emperor which was planning on being presented to the dioceses of the central Calixis Ecclesiarchy.

Installation 23

This station was Constructed in system from ore mined from the Svard system itself. Installation 23 is the Svard systems Promethium Refinery it produced high grade promethium, which netted the Dynasty a tidy profit. Installation 23 contained docking bays and a crew of fifty-thousand.

The retaking of the Installation, spearheaded by the Rogue Trader is the culmination of the liberation of the System from the Whisperers. While the battle was hard fought and there were thousands of casualties, there are rumours claiming that there was Imperial Naval support in addition to selective sanctioned killings of rebellious elements of the native Svard (now Marius) population fighting in the battle. The ringleader of the insurrection known as the Whisper King was put down in a glorious battle between braze commanders of the native PDF and elite rebels protecting their leader.

Repairs are underway on the station and production has already restarted, although it will take many years before it will be back up to full operational capacity.

Svard IV

This asteroid was heavily mined for ore sitting deep within the storm. By M41 it had been mined out and left a hallowed rock. Svard IV was later modified into a repair and refueling port for system gas mining ships. At last report Svarn IV or "Glory" as it came to be called contained at least three active colonies each controlling a full docking and repair facility. Population was six hundred and fifty thousand.

After the liberation of the System from the Whisperers, Glory has recommenced operations with a significantly reduced crew compliment. Initial ships using its services have, quietly, noted that there are no familiar faces on the station, however there effectiveness is second to known so there are no complaints.

Svard V

Named Blecker's moon, Svard V was converted into a mining colony. Much like cog it was a heavily industrialized, Blecker's moon handled the excess ore smelting. It also contained two docks and a population of five million spread across six domes by M41. It should be noted that reports show the moon was far from mined out and produced high grade ore.

With the conclusion of the liberation, Bleckers emerged as one of the strongest colonies in the system, reporting minimal deaths across all domes except for one which is claimed to have been impacted by a freak dome depressurization accident. Representatives from neighboring domes were onsite quickly (very quickly) but were unable to save any residents.

Svard VI

Named Hazard, Svard VI was near useless as a colony due to its toxic environment. It also held little in the way of mineralogical wealth. It was converted into a penal colony in M39. None of the building lay upon Hazards surface, all being underground to protect from the toxic storm that often sweep across the moon. At last Report Hazard held twenty-nine hundred souls.

After being abandoned early into the Whisperer incident, the prisoners on Hazard perished very early into the episode. Currently being 'repopulated'.

Svard VII

Named Callose, Svard VII much like Svard IV was heavily mined. Most of this asteroid was hollow by M41. However the crystal formation native to Callose did interest many colonists. At last report Callose have several thriving communities of craftsmen and wealthy system nobles. Population was estimated at three million.

Although there were a number of casualties throughout the decades of the Whisperer incident, the colonies have bounced back quite well and are intending on being one of the major luxury exports of the system with the opening of trade routes to the greater Imperium.

Primeus station

Primeus Station did not sit in the gravity well of Svard Prime at all, but closer to the systems sun. The station sits in what would be the systems sixth orbit. Sitting upon a seven kilometer long asteroid, Primeus is the primary ore refinery within the system. Servicing the systems Eight mining ships as a unloading point. It held six docks and a crew of twenty -seven hundred at last report.

With the reclamation of the System, the station has been repaired and is full operation in line with the rapidly regenerating mining operation underway.

The Rock of Bhaal

This Station was a free standing community of free miners and traders with in the Svard system. It lays upon a small group of Asteroids, held together by reinforced beams. It lay between the Orbit of Svard Prime and Primeus Station. It was often used as a stopping point for in system cargo haulers. Population was unknown at the time of last contact.
