History
The 17th Assault Company is but one of the 300 company's of the Blood Angel Legion, Famed for their brutal and uncompromising method of war they stand apart from even their Legion Brothers. The Company is led by Lord Hadriel, known as the Red Knight for his martial dedication and honourable conduct. Hadriel even spent years seconded to the 3rd legion with the brothers of 1st squad, learning what he could from them on the perfection of battle.
Being a designated Assault company the force's doctrines promote lightning quick attacks, unstoppable orbital drops and grinding armoured charges to ensure victory for the Angel and the Emperor. Over several brutal campaigns a quiet melancholy has developed inside the company between deployments. First individuals then squads began painting their shoulderpads black to both remember the fallen and show that even the living where always in the company of death. To date Lord Hadriel and his officers have made no move to dissuade the practice, in fact many ranking brothers have joined in the trend until it became the unofficial company colours.
