History

The Shields of Dorn chapter is the 32nd chapter in the order of battle for the seventh legion.

Their initial formation as a fighting force was established in the Himalayas battling witch covens on the Yndonesic Bloc. Bereft of mobile support and unable to call for aerial cover due to weather the Shields of Dorn were left to face the brunt of the attack stoically. It was after days of constant battle that the Shields of Dorn resisted continued attacks and finally pushed the Yndonesic Bloc Forces back down into valleys where allied artillery was able to destroy them in concentrated barrages while they were trapped within the frozen valleys.

Since then the Shields of Dorn have always operated as a blocking force within any engagement. They specialise in stopping in its tracks enemy assaults, pinning the enemy in place so an allied force can sweep in a destroy them with little opposition. The company specialises in the Legions particular Stone Gauntlet Rite of War, making great use of legion breacher teams backed up by close range artillery and armour.

Chapter Organisation

First Company: Utilised as an elite reserve to help bolster the breacher line or to hit enemy positions bogged down against the breacher formations. Uses Cataphractii and Indomitus pattern terminator armour.

Second to Fifth Company: Line companies made up of breacher units, typically armed with melta/plasma weaponry.

Sixth Company: Comprising of tactical support units, equipped with various support weaponry to suit battlefield requirements. This company makes high use of Rhino troop transports in order to rapidly support the breacher line where necessary.

Seventh Company: Made up of tactical units, this company acts as a reserve for the main battle line. Typically this company acts as a training company for new recruits who will then find further service with the breacher companies or support companies.

Eighth Company: Specialising in close combat this company is made up of jump pack equipped marines to assault the enemy once they bog down against the breacher lines.

Ninth Company: This company is where specialist units are fielded. Recon squads act as long range spotters for artillery and troop movements and also make use of bikes and landspeeders for more direct battle field support.

Tenth Company: Heavy weapons support is the role of this company which utilises close support artillery such as rapier and tarantula weapons platforms.
