History

The eventful, if not glorious history of the 36ths stretches back to the unification crusade itself. As with many Night Lords of Terran origin, the 36ths started off as the "night's children", feral offspring in the permanent dark of the prison-sinks. The 36th near-exclusively recruited from the sinks of the antipodus, a prison complex built around the submerged and fracturing mining complexes of ancient suboceanic moho mining. When the Great Crusade took the 36th to the stars, their upbringing in claustrophobic, tortured, structures under immense pressure, made them obvious specialists in combat boarding force. Perhaps more than any other chapter, the Twilight Knives contributed to the Atrementar. Not necessarily the members that would prove their skills in the duelling arena, or fanatically guard the increasingly erratic Night Haunter, but the most ruthless, sudden and calculated members. The strike force which cut down the Kyroptera, at the command of Sevatar, were nearly entirely made up of Twilight Knives.

When assigned surface missions, the Twilight Knives favour fleeting saboteur attacks, before retreating over ground laced with orbital-dropped tarantula platforms and traditional mines. In the event of a larger scale mission, it takes the form of covert recon and pre-seeding of the supporting tarantulas, in support of a surprise drop-pod assault.

As with many other Night Lords forces, the 36th have been known to employ experimental mechanicum devices to jam or hijack communication and broadcast systems.
