History

Magniat is one of the primary worlds of Ultramar. Used as a major mustering and logistics hub by the forces of Ultramar, it was raided by traitor forces during the Shadow Crusade. Their savage attack left many scars, but while their true purpose remains unknown, they were repulsed with significant losses.

The ranking Ultramarine, Lord Leximus, gathered the remaining loyalists and set off in pursuit. Mostly comprised of the 107th Expeditionary Fleet, the combined force received the new honorium, "Magniat Retribution Fleet". The subsequent campaign took them to the Spiratis Cluster, deep in the Ruinstorm. All records of that campaign have been expunged, but the loyalist survivors emerged from the warp storms as a hardened, veteran force.

Prior to their deployment to the Golloch War, the Retribution Fleet comprised the following main assets:

Lord Leximus, Hero of Magniat - Ultramarine 15th Company, shock assault company, primarily consisting of heavy mechanised and planetary assault forces

Contessa Ophelia al-Dur Aranix, Scion-Secundus of the Golden Fleet - household guard of veteran auxilia and ogryn clans, assigned to the 107th Expeditionary Fleet as part of alliance between Ultramar and the Golden Fleet

Constantin Xenophon, Archmagos Reductor of the Veridia Forge - warband of tech-priests and heavy infantry, worked closely with the Contessa as part of the 107th Expeditionary Fleet

Baron Heralcus, Knight of Iax - knight household allied with the Veridia Forge through old night, joined Archmagos Constantin after the Battle of Calth

Drax, Survivor of Istvaan III - small force of legionaries joined the Retribution Fleet after the Spiratis Cluster Campaign

Honorius Vexsus, Flag-Captain of the Magniat Defence Fleet - combined command of primary combat vessels in the Retribution Fleet, 3 battlebarge equivalent, 11 crusier equivalent, and assorted transport, escort squadrons, Golden Fleet and mechanicum assets
