History
Lead by the stubborn Ladon Siculous, the 17th company is known as Mortarions Anvil. Often being deployed at points where other companies are struggling, Ladon has a reputation for cunning, ruthlessness and stubbornness that has earned him the honor of being escorted by the Deathshroud.
Refusing to give ground to his foes, Ladon's forces often find themselves in the thickest of trench warefare combat.
The 17th company also participated in the fighting for Kug'Arkal. Initial drops proved disastrous as the army was surrounded in an ambush. However, through dogged determination, the 17th broke free from the cordon, and then proceeded to smash apart the lap dogs of the Emperor's "Iron" 10th, the Iron Hands.
Composition
Unusual for the Death Guard, the 17th posses a solid number of superheavy vehicles. Including, but not limited to: Fellblades, Typhons, Mastodons and even Knights from the Knight House Makabius.
Legionary Basilisks also make up their ranks, and are frequently used to pummel an enemies defenses before the main attack launches.
Ladon's preferred attack method however is a Spartan assault supported with Heavy Weapons squads armed with las cannons and Autocannons. Using heavy weapons to pin down the enemy, while he, and his Deathshroud escort close the gap to get in for the kill.
Alentos System Pacification
Ladon's 17th company participated in the Pacification of the Alentos system during the Great Crusade. Being one of the early legion forces to respond to requests for aid, they quickly assaulted the xenos hostility.
Fighting For Aethos
Deploying in Force, Ladon was met with extremely stiff resistance. Having his personal Storm Eagle shot down and being grievously wounded in the fighting. He was forced to recuperate in the medicae for several weeks.
