History

Scattered. Prospero is lost. The fate of those left on the planet, unknown. Three astartes stood rigid in ceremonial robes around a bare table, on board a ship far away from their home, their eyes locked onto the centre of the surface. "Those animals... They destroyed everything.. All of our work, all of the knowledge we accumulated.. lost.." The astartes made eye contact with the other two with him. They were speechless, their pupils drawn small by the combination of fury and horror of the news. "My lord, we must not go to our intended destination. We must divert. We must hide. We must be ready." "I agree, said the astartes in the middle." He looked away to a vision port, out to the void. "I will have the hidden in my command seek out any on board who would give away our location." Said the third astartes, his hood covering his eyes. "At once, Khati, I know you will see it done." "Of course, my lord Manetho." Khati turned and proceeded to exit the chamber. "Those Order of the Blind always manage to send chills down my spine.." "Yes old friend, their ruthlessness is quite effective. Especially on the battlefield." Manetho claimed. He wondered, if it would be safe to hide. The galaxy is a large place after all. "Paku-ru?" asked Manetho. "Yes, my lord?" The other astartes answered, with an abrasive yet calm voice, "What is it?" Manetho, still staring out to the void, looked down and said with a worry-some tone "Do you think it will be safe to contact the Warmaster's fleet? Have what we have left of the Order of Ruin determined what might be our best course of action?" Paku-ru closed his eyes, and proceeded to take flight in the great ocean, he saw that they will be in hiding, for a time. The time will come when they can reveal themselves and fight once more. Paku-ru descended back to realspace, to his physical body on the ship. "Not yet, a tumultous time is a head of the Imperium, I am afraid what was unleashed at Prospero, on our legion, is merely a prelude to something far worse. The Emperor shuns us for our gifts, so do many of our brothers, this is why we have been put to extinction. As I said before, my lord, we must take this time to hide and prepare. If we wish to survive, we must do so. A time will come where we may reveal ourselves, and we may yet show all of our critics just how wrong they were to deny us our power." "I Understand, Paku. We shall bide our time. We will have our vengeance." Manetho strode towards Paku-ru, and stopped by his side. Paku-ru felt a firm press on his shoulder, but Manetho did not raise his arm. Manetho exited the room, his battle staff following him in psychic tow.

Prelude to Heresy

By the calculations of the Order of Ruin still on board Manetho's expeditionary flagship, the Bastet, it had been over 6 Terran years since Prospero fell. Manetho had been having visions of Magnus, on a world embroiled with turmoil, ever shifting, and wildly chaotic as it was beautiful. The survivors of Prospero were there, and while Manetho's small fleet held vestages of other elements of Prospero's military might, the remainder of his brother's were on that planet. He yearned to see his Primarch again, but was unable to fathom the location of the planet. "My Lord," a distant voice which echoed through Manetho's chambers, Mantheo turned to face the bearer, it was his consul subordinate, Shu, the officer responsible for carrying out smaller scale warfare that did not require Manetho's insight. He was a big man, to be frank, made ever larger by the fact he rarely took off his terminator plate. His voice was deep and abrasive, but commanded respect as a successful officer of the legion. "We have received word of forces from brother legions fighting against the Imperium, they sent out a call to ar-" "Which legions?" Manetho interrupted. "The twnetith, mainly, we have reports of XII, IV, XIV- " "The Death Guard?!" Manetho scoffed. "Those foetid prunes can die with their primarch.." "But sir, they fight against the forces that destroyed our home, and nearly destroyed our legion. The XVII and XVI are both prominent as well, and we have Hidden information that many of these legions are once again utilising their gifts of the great ocean against the Imperium, against the Edict of Nikea!" Shu's face was almost desperate to see justice met on the battlefield, the fleet had been hiding, largely inactive save for only a few instances of fending off raiders. "Very well, Shu. What other information do our Hidden provide?" Khati emerged from the shadows almost like a spectre of death, Moritats and the astartes they commanded often become one with their art. "Information has been limited, there has been great upheaval in the balance of power in the Galaxy. The Imperium is in the midst of a great civil war, amd Horus Lupercal is at the head of the rebels" Khati explained. "I see, so who does this call to arms originate from?" queried Mantho. "It comes from multiple Alpha Legion ships, it is difficult to get any more information tham that, and the Alpha Legion would be the only ones to figure out how to contact us. The Bastet and its fleet had been hiding in the south eastern fringes of the galaxy, far from any persecution. Many of these transmissions were coming from the Australis Ultima sector, not far from where the Bastet lay. Later, Khati would attempt to contact an Alpha Legion psyker. He detected the light in the Great Ocean of a prominent practitioner of the psychic arts, his name was Herfi.
