History

The Sons of Horus 76th company Nicknamed “Jarak’s Jagged Chosen” are little known within the Imperial records, but their deeds are no less legendary, and their efforts ever serving the story of the Horus Heresy. To date they served Horus in Compliance of Krypt, the Great Battle of Gyros-Thravian, personally took to the ground to assault “traitor” forces on Istavaan III, and orchestrated numerous traps during Istavaan V.

Jarak the Jagged

A Cthonion born, Jarak was abandoned as a small boy when his parents were killed by a rival gang completing a hit-and-run on the local gang in his neighborhood. Feeling contempt and anger Jarak strived to exact vengeance on the opposing gang. Gaining the gangs trust through brutal hazing and completing dangerous tasks few would dare, Jarak prove his worth with his cunning tactics and noticeable effectiveness. Soon rising to the rank of warrior, there were few targets he would not take advantage of. The Luna Wolves marines were not an exception.

While conducting evaluation of possible legionary Aspirants, Ezeklye Abaddon soon found his forces be poke and irritated by bold gang assaults moving in and stealing valuable equipment and tools. Led and planned by none other than Jarak, these attacks were successful until one fateful day when a counter plan was set by Maloghurst and the leader was apprehended attempting to steal a plasma pistol from a Mechanicum Techpriest. The Mechanicum demanding the man’s immediate “removal”, Abaddon stepped in offering service to the Luna Wolves instead of death. Jarak was successful and soon found himself a servant of Horus Lupercal and of mankind.

Jarak immediately took to the life of a marine, war filled his thirst for violence, brotherhood connected him to his gang roots, and access to elite weaponry paired with his creative insight on tactics. Jarak riled for the chance to setup morale breaking traps and assassinations against key enemy leaders. Eventually being recognized for his ingenius stunts and ruthlessness Horus requested he form a special task force specializing in sinister acts of violence and chaos, timed to help overthrow key enemy strongholds and shred enemy morale. When young marines who found it difficult to follow traditional Luna Wolf tactics and who wanted a chance delve into their past experience, sought an avenue for these skills, a request to transfer was filed and company numbers could be traded.

Jarak is known for his cunning and daring plans, his merciless actions, his prowess in combat, and above all his shear determination to complete a task no matter the circumstances.

The 76th

The 76th is known really for its ruthlessness. Used mostly by Horus for breaking the enemies morale, and they were good at it. Often they were found assassinating enemy leaders key family members, working to break a leaders mind and heart, setting sabotage missions to damage enemy reinforcements and defenses, inciting fear among local populace with explosions and toxic gas, or in many occasions dropping in on drop pods into busy intersections and rallies mowing down swarms of enemies simply to kill one leader and to prove a point. Wars were meant to be fast, decisive and brutal. Long wars strained resources and brought too many casualties, the ”Jagged” worked to speed up this process. In combat the 76th prefer rapid strike forces. Focusing on the skill in killing enemies at point blank range, they prefer to drop in on the enemy, unloading with advanced weaponry at key units. By using the element of surprise, the 76th hope to decimate enemy forces before return fire can be made. Much like their leader Horus Lupercal the True Emperor, they work to cripple the enemy under a hail of close ranged fire and overwhelming individual squads with greater numbers and force.

Istavaan III

Most of the 76th belonged to the Legion Cabins. When the time to abandon those felt unfaithful to serve Horus the 76th were already preparing for future battles. Upon hearing of the rebellion on the planet the 76th loaded up their weapons, saddened that they went to kill their brothers but knowing full well a “gang” only survived as long as its members were loyal to its leader. With Horus on a war path these non-believers had to be put down.

Istavaan V

Like all Sons of Horus the 76th had few troops on the ground. There was simply no need to lose key skilled warriors when the other legions were in high supply and would suffice to break three loyalist legions set to be trapped. The 76th did help in many ways, howerver. They worked with other legions and Naval forces working on how to best hide traitorous intel, when to time key attacks, and helping were they could to best set the trap. When the fighting began the 76th led and controlled by Jarak, setup punishing execution points. Embankments believed to grounds of safety and cover proved to be deadly pits of plasma fire, heavy bolters with bane strike rounds and autocannons were found placed within fake walls, melta cannisters by the hundreds were hidden under piles of dirt and rubble waiting to be set off on unsuspecting tanks. Though only hundred “Jagged” were present, they made themselves known.

Pacification of Alentos

During the Crusade Jarak and his “Jagged” found themselves being summoned to the Alentos system to help fractured enemy human and xeno forces stationed there. Instructions provide suggest the World Eater’s 33rd Legion is stationed there. Hearing of Ferox behavior and approving greatly, Jarak is happy to hear that another commander who does not care for a “noble” war will be present, and he plans to place the 33rd into his battle plans. Although, he despises the simple mindedness of meeting an enemy head on at their full strength. Jarak knows how difficult a great “distraction” is to come across and he intends to pair their forces nicely.
