History
The Chapter of the Profaned Menhir are a long standing formation within the Word Bearers, dating back to the Crusade, Imperial Herald era. Named for a constellation in the skies of Colchis thought to be an ill omen or associated with bad luck, the Chapter was relatively small, consisting of only six companies and was primarily equipped as an mass infantry assault force, although they did possess limited quantities of specialist equipment.
first came to Imperial awareness on Calth where they operated alongside the Chapters of the Unspeaking and The Graven Star. The Profaned participated in the Battle of Ithraca where they supported the Calaq War Host after their true intentions were revealed, and rampaged through Ithraca city participating in the wholesale, indiscriminant slaughter of both loyalist forces and citizenry. combwithdrew from the surface before culmination of the poisoning of the Veridian star.
Detachments of the Chapter have often been sighted accompanying Erebus and other central command staff of the legion. This may be related to Chapter leadership, as Dark Apostle
