The Lincon System is the most far flung in the Beneheventian Sub-Sector, a harsh frontier in a frontier subsector. This far out, humanity strives to merely survive in an uncaring universe, wars and rumors of wars are a distant thing, as is the hand of the Imperium, yet to reach this far into the darkness. Lincon would have little significance to the Sub-Sector and the Imperiums initial push into the area if it wasn’t for the megatons of warship armour supplies it would be capable of producing. A single bulk freighter from Lincon Majoris would supply the Yaris shipyard for months. And it is this resource that made it an early target for expansion when Warsmith Ares Hector of the IV Legion 23rd Expeditionary fleet, established his foot hold in the system.
Compliance was swiftly accepted in 613.M30 by the local population, seeing a chance to secure their protection against the ever present xenos threat common on the frontier worlds in the subsector. What was originally little more than a backwater Hive world would grow over time into a major supply base for the Imperial Expeditionary fleets. Following the compliance and strategic importance posed on Lincon, the 94th Grand battalion, selected from the 23rd Expeditionary fleet, was tasked with garrisoning the system. They set about fortifying and expanding the planetary defenses, especially around the Spaceport in Nova Linconis and the Manufactorum Complex in Jongrad. The Grand battalion also established an Armoury Vault in Masonia located at the south pole of Lincon Secondus.
After the IV Legion was reunited with their father and primarch and following the act of self-decimation, Perturabo personally oversaw the replacement of the 94th Grand battalion by the 78th Grand battalion as the new garrisons of the Lincon system. Why the Primarch chose to do this one can only speculate but the high number of terran legioners within the battalion and that it was led by Warsmith Ares Hector, the Compliancer of the system, now out of favor with his Gen-father could have a factor in the choice. Ares Hector nevertheless accepted his new task with the stoic devotion to duty that could only be expected from an IV Legionnaire. As the Galaxy erupted into civil war following the treacheries events at Istvaan III and IV, the eyes of the Warmaster reached Lincon and its strategic armament supply for the loyalist forces in subsector.
