Description
Massive hive spires rise from the dark regolith of Purity IV. Purity Hive is a den of human activity; with millions of people toiling day after day at manufacturing, processing, and shipping jobs. Finished goods and a multitude of other products are exported from the planet, while huge quantities of foodstuffs and fresh water are required daily to maintain the hive cities. Though atmo-processors, heat exchangers, and hydro-recyclers make life on the exposed surface possible, few people live outside the hives in the dusty wastes between the spires. Most citizens content themselves with the gray steel "skies" of the hive, living their lives of drudgery with little thought or expectation of upward mobility.
Purity Hive is nominally under Imperial control (an Imperial Planetary Governor rules from the top of Purity Central Hive), though the Mechanicum's influence on the affairs of the world are undeniable.
History
Purity Hive was the fourth world surveyed by the Explorator Fleet that initially settled the system. Like the other planets in the Purity V Void Cluster, extensive terraforming was required to make the sunless rogue planet livable. Heat radiators, starlight collectors, and atmo-traps all work together to keep the black world from freezing to death. In contrast to the organic disorder of so many other Imperial Planets, Purity IV was laid out as a Hive World from the beginning, with hive spires and transit networks meticulously designed and expanded upon like fractal webs of order and discipline. Since the founding-time, the hive cities have continually grown until reaching truly massive proportions, their populations supporting and feeding the machinery that is the Purity V Forge.
