History
It is true that hundreds of Baroda's Knights flocked to Markan Hrotham's banner when signed himself to the Warmaster, and damned themselves and House Makabius for all time. It is further true that all had reason to fear, when the Death Guard arrived to collect that debt. But a few among them found a savage joy in service to Mortarion, when it gave them a chance to face the Imperial Fists.
This lust for revenge dates back to 860.M30, when Terra's compliance fleets first found Baroda. The Lord Martial of House Makabius, Sirus Lethale, refused to simply bow to Imperial authority, and issued a challenge to the Imperial Fists Seneschal - an open battle to decide the fate of Baroda; the pride of his House against that of the VIIth Legion. And in that battle, the pride of the House was crushed - the best Knights that the world could muster destroyed by terminator assault and the withering firepower of Fellblade superheavy tanks. Some claim that the battle was honorable. Certainly, the Imperial Fists praised the valor of Lethale and his fellow warriors, but the humiliation left a bitter gall in the mouths of Lethale's descendants, a taint that only grew with the generations until it burst forth as full-blown treachery.
The Sons of Dorn have reason to fear the children of Lethale, and the Scions of Baroda.
