Even with the relatively recent elevation to Sub-Sector Governor, Cambrius has maintained a population of around 1 Billion people scattered across the planet in well planned rural cities, allowing the planets main agricultural activities to be managed effectively. While not one of the top tier system Kingdoms before Compliance, Cambrius was still quite a significant power due to its ability to produce and export huge quantities of excellent quality food stuff, from livestock through to crops.
With entry into the Imperium and status of Sub-Sector Governor confirmed, a higher level of consumables can be diverted to the planet and governor is considering allowing the planetary population to be expanded to allow further development of the lucrative naval yards.
Now that the planet is the seat of power, its wealth and influence has grown exponentially and the ruling class has started forming a new form of nobility equal to that of their new found wealth. Jealous of their well structured of their status and conscious of their well structured productivity, the government has inacted strict immigration requirements to prevent the planet from being inaundated with off worlders.

A rarity in most space faring worlds, Cambrius managed to maintain a highly efficient resource management regime throughout its growth and resisted the tempation of over industrialisation or over working the land. This allowed the planet to become a power house in agricultural production allowing its people to grow quite rich in trade amongst the other neighbouring systems, but without significant industrial or raw ore output they were never able to become a top tier player in the inter Kingdom power plays before the Imperium arrived.
The near limitless amounts of resources mined from the inner belts allowed the society to establish a flourish naval fleet to initially protect themselves from raiders, then to commence inter system trade and latter even begin expanding their sphere of influence through mercantile activities.
As fate would have it, though, this was one of the reason that Cambrius was chosen to become the new Sub-Sector Governor after Compliance of the Systems had been completed, in part to reinforce the Imperial rule and break the old power networks, and also, more quietly, for its proximity to an Adamantium rich planet; [[Cambrius Minor]]. While such a move would normally create hostility between the former participants of the trade networks, the more aggressive players and a lot of the top tier Kingdoms has attempted to resist Compliance and, mostly, now lie in ruins, struggling to rebuild themselves. The remaining Systems in the Sub-Sector were very quick to forget the former way and accept the new authority and its structure.

History

While not the most hospitable of worlds, Savage has become a vibrant society through trade with other neighboring Systems, previously including Xenos, to supplement their food supplies and other vitals which are in short supply. What allowed them to do this is their highly developed and extremely efficient naval production facilities but on the planets surface and in orbit. The near limitless amounts of resources mined from the inner belts allowed the society to establish a flourish naval fleet to initially protect themselves from raiders, then to commence inter system trade and latter even begin expanding their sphere of influence through mercantile activities.

Before the Imperium had reached the Savage System, the ruling class of Savage had encountered the Imperium's Great Crusade through its trade partners and had prior warning to the immense strength which they wielded. Discussing their options the council of Savage quickly acknowledged that their best path lay with voluntary Compliance and joining with the Imperium. When the Expeditionary fleet arrive in System, the Council welcomed them with open arms and offered unconditional access to the vast orbital dock yards to allow for repairs and refits. Admiring the efficiency of the docks, the Imperial Fists were quick to make use of the facilities to further investigate their strengths and weaknesses.

Something which became apparent straight away was the unusually close design patterns which the Savage native ships bore to those variants produce by the Voss shipyards. How the Voss pattern and design specifications came to be known by the ship wrights of Savage, and doubly so, how they came to develop an entire range of ships based on that pattern is entirely unknown, but the similarities in the designs cannot be discounted. A Mechanicum investigation team had been scheduled to arrive in the system to look into the anomaly when the Heresy broke out, whether the team arrived or not is now unknown as concerns of more pressing matters have been pushed to the forefront. Being the primary Naval facilities in the Sector, Savage is a vital planet for either side in the escalating civil war.
