Traitors Involved In The Conflict
With the Loyalists forces on the back foot from the initial offensive the Traitors ground units continued a war of harassment as they maneuvered reinforcements into position for the next round of assaults. When the first major strikes occurred however, it was not from a foe that the Loyalists had expected.
Disgruntled at their treatment by the Luna Wolf commanders and believing them to be well placed traitors who allowed the Alpha Legion incursion to take place, the disgraced Templars declared themselves free of the 'Loyalists' shackles and avowed to purge them of corruption, launching a blistering assault on the Governors Palace only to be confronted with their brothers of the VIIth. Unwilling to fully commit to the engagement and slaughter their own Legion, the Templars altered their attack from one of engage and capture to a defensive probing strike and withdrawal, their counterparts however were not so hesitant. Seeing them as traitorous elements within their Legion, the Loyalist Imperial Fists took the battle to the Templars and forced them from the field, holding the Palace secure.
Taking advantage of the confusion caused by the Loyalist dissension, the Traitors struck North and East of their newly consolidate position at the Savage Campaign - Vox Relay Node, pouring forces into the Manufactorum and its neighboring Habitat District while attempting to expand east into the cities Atomantic Power Node. The first clash occurred in Hab District #1 when the newly arrived Salamanders forces engaged the rampaging XVIIth. Already buoyed by previous victories and the growing Traitors presence and with the Salamanders force split, the Word Bearers forces clashed against the XVIIIth with gusto, carving into the lines and taking advantage of the Loyalists shock at having to fight against another Astartes. Within hours the battle was done and Salamanders were in disarray falling back towards friendly fortified lines.
Further west, timed to be shortly after the Word Bearers assault on the Habitat District, the XXth entered the Manufactorum complex forcing the already engaged Salamanders to send a portion of their force in order to counter them. The Astartes of the XVIIIth fought valiantly but, like their kin to the east, soon began to take excessive casualties and with the rest of their force falling back they risked being cut off and behind enemy lines. Collecting their fallen the Loyalists fell back leaving yet another district in the firm control of the Traitor forces.
Unaware of the failed defense of the northern districts the Luna Wolves crossed the cities primary lake to launch a counter assault against the VIIIths invasion of the cities Power Node sector, a vital city function to keep from the Traitors hands. At the onset of the battle the loyalist XVIths were struggling; under fire the moment they made the shoreline and the further they pushed into the district, the heavier the resistance got. While a number of pitched skirmishes went against them, the Night Lords forces were well placed and ready for the Loyalist incursion, eventually forcing them to pull back from the district, expanding the traitors zone of control even further.
