After news of the Istvaan betrayal became known, Select forces of the Legio Custodes were sent to assist the Loyalist legions in the prosecution of their errant brothers. While this assistance typically took the form of small detachments directly cooperating with the Legions Astartes, some small strike forces were assembled entirely from the Legio Custodes and their assets. The role of these strike forces was not to engage in all-out legion war, however to provide high quality intelligence and precision strikes at key targets.
Shield-Captain Tobias Galledor, having recently earned his 89th name, was granted leave from his duties of warding the 14th Precinct of the Imperial Palace, and was instructed to harry the traitor forces wherever they were encountered.
