While centuries of mining has reduced the planets surface to slag and dust, the planets crust is simply the top layer of a myriad of precious metal veins yet to be tapped. The Systems location has previously prevented any large scale Imperial mining operation, however now with war engulfing the Sub-Sector, the increased need in raw materials may result in renewed attempts to start.
Population
The population on the planet is limited to scattered mining operations who now report directly to the Angels Radiant Chapter. Token defense forces are scattered across the surface to ensure the workers safety from marauding raiders from the recent war.
Foundations have been started for large scale habitations zones below the planets surface to drastically increase the planets population capacity and ramp up mining production.
History
The planet has always been a rich bounty in the crown of the Phonicas system, however it is one which was never truly utilised as the System was never under close scrutiny from the Imperium. The planet is hostile and difficult to work without expensive safety habitats and the operations are costly to maintain. Even still over the centuries many thousands of operations have been conducted on the surface to siphon away the lucrative minerals.
