The Battle of Perimetre Fort Tetra-Echo
Loyalists Involved In The Conflict
Traitors Involved In The Conflict
After the defeat of the 64th Battalion's assault on Redoubt Tetra-225, the Loyalist command decided to push the advantage and ordered an immediate counterstroke to seize the primary IVth Legion fortification in the Tetra-Echo Sector. Responsibility for the attack fell to the 55th Stormwing of the First Legion, experts at siege warfare that had thus far been kept in reserve as the confused mess of the Battles of the Outer Fortifications worked themselves out. As the Iron Warriors spearheads fell back to their strongpoints, the Dark Angels made their attack.
Holding Perimetre Fort Tetra-Echo was a skeleton garrison of 15 Legionaries supported by a small host of Imperialis Militia detachment from the 27th Volgan Cossack Regiment. The First Legion launched their assault at dawn, the guns of the XIIIth House Solar Auxilia heavy tank battalions hammering the void shields of the strongpoint before the morning fog began to clear.
The fortress artillery returned fire and a brief but intense firefight broke out as the Dark Angels attempted to capitalize on the element of surprise to seize the fort. Frantic calls for reinforcements were met with static as scattered and disorganized remains from the failed Iron Warriors offensive fell back all along the line. Heavy antitank support from a unit of Tyrant Siege Terminators did much to keep the attackers at bay, but without reinforcements the defenders had little hope of holding their position.
Buckling under a torrent of fire from XIIIth House guns, a lucky lascannon strike from an Auxilia Vanquisher Tank destroyed the Iron Warriors' Void Shield Generator. The tank commander immediately informed his superiors that they could begin their landing, as First Legion Breachers launched their assault on the 64th Grand Battalion's defences. Although Fourth Legion reinforcements began to trickle into the area, the force of the 55th Stormwing's assault had succeeded in dislocating the Iron Warriors' defences. A last-ditch counterattack led by Warsmith Krios Dracontites himself did not succeed in pushing back the Dark Angels, and the failure of Volgan heavy tanks to reach the area signaled the defeat of the Fourth Legion and the seizure of Perimetre Fort Tetra-Echo.
The Battles for the Outer Fortifications were reaching their end, but the Siege of Ark'alask-Septimus was only beginning...
