Battle Summary

The initial stages of the Liberation were an almost complete success, exceeding the most generous predictions of the attached Logi-Prognosticator of the fleet. With the Interdiction ships and covert teams taking control of every auspex station in the Outer Shoals, the loyalists were perfectly positioned for a crippling surprise strike against the traitors' own voidships.

Even better, information retrieved from the cogitator banks on Dwarf Planet T-4559-C revealed exactly which ships were at anchor in the Fuschal System, awaiting resupply or consolidation with other traitor forces. Space around Fuschal and Empusa was heavily congested with cargo lifters and bulk carriers working around the clock to supply the Warmaster's fleets, so many of these warships were at anchor above the planet Yuglenia, a gas giant of otherwise minimal interest.

One voidship in particular was designated a priority target, that under no circumstances could be allowed to escape the righteous retribution of the Liberators. This was the Death Guard worldkiller Eschaton, known to have a nearly full complement of phosphex macrobatteries, atomics, and virus bombs. Intelligence reports on activity by Legio XIV units strongly implied they were also harvesting bioweapons and phytotoxins from the death world of Empusa. If the Eschaton was not destroyed in the surprise attack, it could easily obliterate any forces the loyalists could land on Fuschal - along with the bulk of the civilian population.

Special Rules for Phase Two : Operation End of Days

Zone Mortalis Boarding Actions against the Eschaton all use the Catastrophic Damage rule, as the Loyalist fleets continues to pound the armoured bulk of the worldkiller, even as boarding squads attempt to wreck it from inside.
