Combat Summary

+++Outpost LRS Theta 925-4+++

Imperial forces of the VII legion mustered against the strength of the forces of the Dark Mechanicum. Auger scans from both factions decreed this facility as a good staging post further operation opportunists in the surrounding systems could possibly be gleamed from the outposts cogitators.

The VII legion had the initiative arriving on the battlefield first and took advantage of the opportunity. Maneuvering the Phobos Land Raider His Golden Will towards the enemy with the forces Praetor Tervis and his Terminator command squad into the the thick of the fighting on the left flank of battle supported by a legion tactical squad in a second Rhino transport. The Legions two Contemptor dreadnoughts lead the center assault with a Legion tactical Squad on the center complex while the Legion Heavy support squad opened up with a volley of missiles into the Dark Mechanicum constructs. The right flank was caught by surprise with a squad of infiltrating constructs that began to drive back the Legions attempt to seize the hilltop overlooking the outpost.

The Dark Mechanicum was not to be contained counterattacking with fierce determination. Constructs babbling scrap code and other foul blasphemies marched forwards to meet the Land Raider threat supported but a desecrated machine. The thing that had once been a Tech Priest moving to try and destroy the Armored offensive on the left. The center of their forces began to Target the first of Legions Contemptors and succeeded in immobilizing one of the war machines.

The Rhino doors slammed down releasing the squad of Legion Tactical marines to climb the observation tower giving them unprecedented control of the left flank opening fire with their bolt weapons into their foes lighter constructs to allow the Terminators now disgorged from His Golden Will to challenge the Dark Magos unhindered. With the Left now under intense fighting and the right Legion tactical squad out of position and things looking desperate the Sargent's order for the Fury of the Legion to be unleashed at close range upon the infiltrating constructs. When the smoke had cleared the machines seemed mostly unscathed with only a small number succumbing to their firepower. The center of the battlefield was now heating up. The Legion Contermptor dreadnought spun up its assualt cannon and began to rain a torrent of shells on the hostile line to cover its twin armed with a melta to advance supported by the third Legion Tactical squad taking cover among the detritus of the compounds walls and abandoned equipment.

The Dark Mechanicum's response was brutal. Screeching its corrupted binaric cant the Magos charged His Golden Will using its dark control over machines overloaded many of its systems and wreaked the vehicle for the foreseeable future. Its constructs fought harder at this and poured fire into the squad holding the watch tour slaying a good number of its Astartes, their Sargent keeping the squad in position. In the center of the battlefield the immobile dreadnought faltered under the heaviest firepower from the tainted weapons of the Dark Mechanicum's forges, while lighter troops seized control of the center bastion of the outpost. Upon the right of the battlefield the Dark Mechanicum moved its remaining infiltration forces engaged with the Legion Tactical squad for supremacy of the battlefield, however their assault was not as sucessful as the Sargent took down a number of them with power sword and bolt pistol with the remaining Astartes overwhelming the finial one with combat knives.

With the destruction of His Golden Will out of action Praetor Tervis lead his Terminator Honor Guard into battle against the mechanical Horror that was once a Tech Priest. The charge carrying the day as the Terminator clad Praetor slew the mechanical horror with the aid of his honor guard. The Dark Mechanicum forces now leaderless began to suffer in earnest. The Legion Heavy Support Squad unleashing a torrent of missiles into the heavy machine at the rear of the hostile line causing irreparable damage. The tactical Marines in the center cleared the outpost bastion and claimed the center of the field with covering fire from the watch tower. The remaining Contemptor dreadnought engaged by his brothers death hurled itself into the enemy line smashing down 2 of the largest constructs in the hostile lines. The remaining members of the third Tactical Squad on the right moved into cover to hold until aid from the center would arrive to aid them.

With the right controlled and the center beginning to fold onto the right flank the forces of the Dark Mechanicum decided enough had been lost for such a position, the forces were withdrawn.

The VII-XXII raised the Company Standard above the outpost and claimed it for the Imperium.

"IMPERIUM VICTOR!" was shouted in unison as the first Thunderhawk arrived bearing supplies and reinforcements for the staging point.
