After rescuing the Eisenstein, Imperial Fists were sent to the Isstvan system. One of said ships were caught in tear in realspace as a result from the violent warp storms. While in the warp their ship was boarded by an immaterial being that entered the body of an empath. The ships Astartes fought the being and unwittingly drew it in the direction of the warp drives. upon fatally wounding the possessed empath, the immaterial being exited the empath's body in an ethereal state and passed through several hull walls into a warp drive just as the ship attempted to jump back to the Materium. This caused a ripple in the surface of time ( or a ripple in time) upon re-entry, the ship began to buckle. it is within these buckled spaces where tears formed throughout the ship. Upon re-entering the Materium they were scattered. The ship became a movable multi-tear in space where the Fists had prism based access to several time periods within a limited spectrum. As a result the ship itself exists in multiple moments in time at once. And if they travel too far from the prism tear outside the "current" time material space time ripples they were returned to hours earlier within the same spectrum. Picture a pie graph and in the center of said graph is a circle encompassing parts of every slice. The ripples are calming and so the spectrum is shortening. They are currently unsure of what will happen if they jump again or wait out the calming and closing of the multitear.

This could explain the Knight Errant involvement as Malcador would sense this and would seek to utilize the possibility of navigable time travel to his advantage.
